Well i made a start this morning!

First i pulled all the original engine bay loom/fusebox and compared it to the g40 loom so that i could lable everything up for future reference.

The eagle eyed of you will spot theres an extra loom there which i was given by mistake, but i soon realised this and discarded it!

Next i test fitted the eaton to see how it would all mount up etc

There is clearly lots cleaning up, painting and servicing to be done yet so next i will strip off all inlet in preperation to fit the gt inlet and then fit a new timing belt kit.

Also while i am at it i shall try to find a toothed belt kit

did a little more today

got her up in the air so all the front suspension could be removed, i found most of the rubber boots had split and the joins felt gritty so i will be replacing all those, i also started to give the engine bay a proper clean up. and there is also just a few shots of how shes looking in general at the moment.

most of the contents of the front end is now inside the boot...

a random spare set of bike carbs, because you just never know when you might need them.

got some more done again today, remainder of the AFH removed so i could jetwash the engine bay,

also removed both front wings so i could jetwash off the 23 years of filth from behind them and give it a coat of underseal, i will do the same with the rear next time i have chance]

well today i test fitted the engine with charger attached and its a tight fit to say the least...

i guess a custom alloy radiator will be required unless anyone has any other ideas?

and i will need the charger outlet modifying as its currently very close to the grill so no space for any pipe work to fit

but the belt alignment looks like it will be good :)

You know the flexible pipe you have joining the TB to hard boost line doesn't go there right?

yeh i know that i was just messing with different setups and looking at where the pipes could route and i just decided to take a photo at that point :)

i will be fitting a proper alloy piping kit with black silicone joiners when the time comes, just need to size it all up first. thinking of painting the intercooler black and having it as part of the grill...

nah, once i get an idea in my head and money in my hand i get cracking on with stuff :)

then its time to order a custom rad as it seems the eaton doesn't allow for the rad in a standard position...

i know it looks as though it will stick out alot but with a little chopping and jiggling around i will be able to get the intercooler to bolt directly to the upper panel and be a couple of inches further back. also ime going to need a custom outlet made for the charger to give me the correct angle to get a pipe onto the intercooler as at the moment its hardly ideal!

it wasnt made for anything to be honest its a universal kit but it does look abit in your face! although once i have got it a few inches further back and painted satin black it should blend in a 'little' bit more :)

yes but its the smallest i could find in this sort of shape without paying silly money for a custom one!

did some chopping today and got the intercooler to sit where i want. although to do that i had to remove the bonnet catch and centre support, which means bonnet pins will be required :)

and also now that i know the exact position of the cooler i can have a custom outlet for the charger made which will hopefully look something like this, that way i can just hook up a silicone bend between the two and thats job done :) there will also be more clearance as i am in talks with a friend who is going to make a less intrusive mount for the charger then onto making a radiator fit in somewhere!

The car is going to run hot if you make everything cramped- running a real risk of detonation.

I fear the intercooler you are using is to large.

Theres still a nice big space where the standard rad fits, although the space isnt quite big enough for a standard rad i do plan on getting a custom alloy one which will be more efficient anyway.

And in terms of the cooler size i couldnt really find anything that explained what size for what application etc so i bought the smallest i coulld find and hoped for the best to be honest.

A max boost pressure is more than likely going to occur, but its a trade off between max boost pressure and inlet temperature. I found introducing a large plenum into my setup gave a pressure drop, 0.5bar opposed to 0.8bar when it was a standard setup.

I've also gone with a similar sized IC to you, so itll be interesting to see how you go on.

Also just to add, I think, even though the IC position does intrude on the radiator air flow, its probably no worse than a mk2F scenario, apart from the extra heat picked up by the air from the IC.

Maybe a bigger rad plus two decent fans on a dash mounted switch will suffice?

I am going for a similar IC placement to this, but mine is 430 x 140 x 65, got a decent fan and a low temp thermostat. reckon that should do the trick. I am using a G-lader not the eaton

If the boost drop is too much, you could always get it modified so it is either cut to a shorter length, or even have some channels blocked up.
