oh yeah btw i discovered today that limited to about 3000rpm means a top speed of 55mph in 5th with my original 1ltr box, so motorway journeys are out of the question...

8p (well similar)

Should be a longer drive.

I know with the GT 3K was about 60. 3.5K was around 70

  • Author

ah ok thats interesting, 70mph is usualy about 4000rpm for me, screams like a mofo all the way down the motorway and sups juice like mad!

what gearbox code is it?

mines ace on the motorway. Can sit at 80 at reasonable revs (around 4K)

This is an amazin car mate. Honestly, I've sat and read the build of this monster from start to finish!!! (Unless you decide to do anything else to her!!! haha) I've only recently started to like the mk2 loons as i was undecided to get either one of these or a 6n. But on from this I'm more in the direction of one of these. Tbh, these are a lot cheaper to buy, and they look so much cooler than the 6n. Anyway, excellent build mate, big pat on the back

the sill strips have been off before because the sills needed some welding for the mot so i covored them with underseal before they were refitted :)

Fronts are easy.. just get some new wings and either use them or use the arch off them.

The rear how ever might take a bit of sorting due to no repair panels being avaiable :( Good luck with it

Is that sealant I can see on one of the front arches? Maybe suggests someone was already aware of the rust, and chose to seal the arch back on, which might have in turn made things a whole lot worse.

As Mark has said, rear coupe/saloon rear arches are unobtainable, so chopping out sections and plating is the most likely option, or seeing if a friendly scrappy will gas axe a section of quarter panel from a solid car. The drawback with this though is you'll have to unpick the spot welds. Its no biggy, just a bit more work.

will see what the bodyshop says this afternoon...

Good luck lol

well the verdict is new front wings and new rear arches, ordering the wings from a place called mount panels tomorow, and i suppose ill need to find a saloon getting broken up and hack it to pieces for the rears :)
