megane splitter fits a MK3, not a MK2

But Eric, it just wouldnt work. Look at the front of a MK3 and then the front of a MK2....

Reason people get them, is because no cutting or bending required to fit on a MK3 bumper.

So really, saying use it for a MK2 is saying 'just use any old splitter and make it fit, off of any car' .....

so today i decided it would be a good idea to strip the cams off and pull out the hydro tappets to give them a service as it has been tapping a fair bit recently

first thing i found was this...

so in a mad rush i tryed findind a new one to buy, local motor store who have never let me down...nope, GSF...nope, ECP...nope! VW...nope!

ahh what a nighmare!

ended up having to 'borrow' one from a friend while i wait a few days for a new one to arrive

so panic over i got on with cleaning all the rest of them which is so easy i would recommend it to anyone with a tappy top end :)

so once they ahd all been soaked in oil i popped them back in and fired her up, tap tap tap tap.... let it get to temperature and went for a drive and came back, tap tap tap tap, so in a huff i went off and worked on the BMW, came back to it 4 hours later and she runs sweet as a nut, not a single tap, bliss!

so in the huff i ragged the 3.5 from the beemer and got it mounted on the spinner:

one empty looking 535!

Looks like that one may not have been compressing properly on the "piston" inside, check the relavent lobe too, i would be suprised if thats not marked.

You've had your cams "reground" right? I'm sure they will have had to reduce the base-circle and "ramp" of the lobes profile, which leads to a much harsher contact between the lobe and tappet, which in turn can lead to this!

a few days later and its silent when cold but when it warms up it starts tapping again, not badly, but its loud enough to be embarrassing!
