Well its been a few weeks now and they havnt been without there problems, nothing major tho. Jerking and hesitation under any load/throttle input, stripped and cleaned the distributor and all is well! On going problems with one tyre in particular which refuses to seal to the rim properly for some odd reason (no stretch at all). And just getting to the bottom

of fuel smells inside the car.

also gave her a flat and buff today/yesterday and i can honestly say it looks better than when i first recieved it back after a fresh paintjob! Very very happy with the results :)

and removed the front carpet section to give it a proper scrub and jetwash, looks good as new now! 26 year old beige carpet tends to show up all the marks...

Well with polo made bugjam this year :) and i hit the strip once more, managed to beat my previous best by a decent amount with a 15.2 although there is absolutly a 14 in it with warmer tyres and a better start!

the difference between the 1.4 and the 1.6 is massive though, the 1.6 felt to be pulling soo much harder. So much so that i held on to a 360hp scirroco until atleast 2 thirds of the way down!! :)

so now we are nearly 4 years on from my last post...

she was on the road for a few months, made the polo social that year and then came off the road as it needed ALOT of welding (a some may have spotted at the social...). then my nissan s14 went bang and i needed a car. i happened to have a spare mk2 golf so in the engine went along with the 1.4 oem injection setup instead of bike carbs for a change. (the golf already had an injected afh fitted for a while previously so was basically a straight fit in a day and i took it to work the following day. so after a year of building a forged sr20 and welding up the silvia it came out of, i eventually restarted working on the polo and come December 2019 she was ready for the road again along with an injected 1.6 afh this time...

i loved driving it like this at first, much easier to start when cold etc and sounded mental as i went for the avy inlet mani (no egr rubbish inside and also the bigger yellow injectors) which i feel made a big difference over the afh kit..

so fast forward 7 months and i just dont use it anymore :sorry:

Nice to see this is still up there as the most replied to mk2 build thread 💪 nothing has changed since 5 years ago apart from maybe a little more welding and a few other bits just to keep it going. Shes about to have another mot and be ready to use for the summer!
