  • That is just what i was hoping to hear from swapping to a 1.4 gearbox. I'm seriously tempted by doing this now I can't even do 60 at 3000rpm lol. So it's a direct drop in? or are there any modifica

depends on what gearbox code is, some of the 1000cc gearboxes have an 18mm input shaft spline so you would have to use the 1000cc clutch assembly

cheers =]

currently got a 1.4 8v on a 1.0l gearbox, i only get 500 revs to play with between gear changes =[

so decided against extra power and such low ratios,

so kinda wondering if a 1.4 gearbox will fit now =S

I have a 1.0 and i'm wondering if the 1.4 polo gearbox is a direct drop in?

fitted one on mine no problem. my engine code is AER.

4th is like 5th on a 1litre box :-D

Hello m8 it is possible, however wouldn't advise it..had that on my 6n and it was tooo much straine on the gearbox, however accel was amazingggg!!! I'm thinking of puttin a 1.0l gearbox on my 6n that I have now :)

4th on the 1.4 gearbox is like 5th on the 1.0? Sweet! That's just what i'm after - Being able to cruise at motorway pace without doing 4000rpm :lol:

Strain on the gearbox? What do you mean?

Has anybody else got any experience with this? What's reliability, performance etc like?

Cheers! :D

just over 3000 at 70 :-D but i found it cruses better at around 80 1st and second are about the same, 3rd 4th and 5th is higher.

reliability wise just the same as the 1 litre

as for performance you will lose some acceleration in top
