lol i love how everyone uses technical terms (shagged) when your cars bust, my personal favourite is "well thats fucked then init"

car looks cool dude but whats up with it ?

head gasket has blown, well and truly (see pics on first page)

it WILL be fixed and i WILL drive it again (or so i keep telling myself)

I quite like the little punto, i've been driving it all day...

Pros..........

Electric windows

5 Gears

Clock

Rev counter

5 doors

central locking

trip-o-meter

glove box

ciggi lighter

front fog lights

height adjustable seat

the list goes on

But cons:

its not a polo

i dont smile in it

theres no 'character'

maybe i'm sounding like an old man

i like the tech advances between the old and new......

but

IT'S NOT A POLO :)

Update:

today i visited the garage and they showed me the new engine fitted :)

however i asked them to m.o.t the car, and it failed

1: 2 front tyres bald on inside (camber fail)

2: sills have more holes than a swiss cheese (rust fail)

3: back seats were lying flat so they couldn't check the seat belts (pointless fail)

however i did smile, the MOT'er said he lost a bet on emissions - i have a sports filter and after market back box, he said it would fail and bet 10 quid but the sweet new engine sailed through................... :)

anyway the whole story is...

New engine 220

labour 280

silly little parts - belts, filters, plugs etc 50

but with the tyres, welding, loads of hassle

over 1000

no you didnt read that wrong.... over a grand, 1k+

whats the car made of unicorn piss?????

anyone wanna buy a hugely over priced polo?

Mugged. 220 for a new engine? i thought it just needed a new head gasket?

  • Author

head was corroded and couldn't be skimmed,

mot also failed:

2 rear wheel bearings

rear brake drums and lines

costly month

heads are common as muck though. Pick one up for around 30 quid :S

Finally got my car back in ONE glorious piece on friday, a tremendous bill of 1400.... and to be entirely honest with you all............ really shoddy work.

i'll post up some pictures when it's all cleaned up again, 7 weeks of grime and grott to loose!!!!

thats all folks

1400?! You could've bought two solid GT's for that or a middle of the road G40.

too right, i said change the engine so the head wasn't so fooked... get it back: standard ride height, 2 new tyres missing half the trim, full of eurgh and buggerit

not happy at all

you've paid £1400 in total for a 1.0 polo which still has issues? my mate paid £265 + 6months tax and it was on the road, passed its mot 6 months later with no advisories and its a 1.3 NZ, i hope you've learned a few lessons ;)

i have, anyone wanna buy a 1.0l polo for upwards of a grand?

haha

Fuck me you you have spent a shed load of money of this ... So glad I'm a mechanic
