Does a solid colour need flatting between top coats?

Simple question does a solid colour need flatting between top coats I've laid down two colour coats got a couple od drips to wet sand out shall I wet sand the whole lot then lay down my final 2 coats or lay down the next 2 coats and flat with very very fine wet n dry then using a rubbing compound ?
