I had a go on it round my mates

Its good, cant deny that... But what its hyped up to be? nope...

Got it today, it took around 40mins to install from the "20mins left of install" including saying 5secs remain for over 3mins.

Also had the menu freeze on me and in game once in the first 30mins of playing, very poor for a new game which has been in development for so long.

The game seems ok but theirs loads to unlock, the Nürburgring Nordschleife track isn't unlocked at the start (dunno when unlock it) and 60% cars are also locked and not even visable e.g. all the polos and mk1 golf under just the vw section.

Oh 800 of the cars are "standard" not "premium" models, standard models dont have cockpit view or damage (shite I know) the track editor also sucks

However GO-KARTS are epic fun and unlocked right after your first mission :-D :-D :-D and as always a huge and good soundtrack.

I'm not going to review it yet but I gather it will improve, most items are not unlocked from the start e.g. all the following are not unlocked at the start under VW-

Volkswagen Golf I GTI '76

Volkswagen Golf IV GTI RM '01

Volkswagen Golf IV R32 '03

Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe (Type-1) '68

Volkswagen Lupo1.4 '02

Volkswagen Lupo Cup Car '00

Volkswagen Lupo GTI '01

Volkswagen Lupo GTI Cup Car (J) '03

Volkswagen New Beetle 2.0 '00

Volkswagen New Beetle Cup Car '00

Volkswagen New Beetle RSi '00

Volkswagen Polo GTI '01

and VW has a small car list compared to most (theirs 1 mk4 and 1 mk5 gti along with the camper and two old war vehicles under vw to buy from the start)

You forgot to mention the fact that the actual racing gameplay is smooth as butter! Furthermore, graphics wise - some of the best i've ever seen!

The fact you have to unlock and buy most cars dosen't bother me as it just makes you want to play more!

The general feel of the menus etc is tbh quite dull but on the track it sure makes up for it!

They have put alot of effort into how the cars feel and in my oppinion, have hit the nail bang on. It's the small details that interest me - the bumps on the track, very realistic weather conditions and the speed of the cars is just right, unlike the arcady feel to Forza!

i thought it was funny that even after you'd bought the game you still had to wait over half an hour for things to install etc. before you could play it

i don't think it's as impressive as they made out to be, but it's still brilliant! the go-karts are a laugh, i think the modifications are better and the actual gameplay is pretty spot on!

has anybody played it enough to unlock the nurburgring yet? unless i'm blind and cant see it...

nurburgring requires to be unlocked

I hate amazon!!!1

I want it noaw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nurburgring requires to be unlocked

Yep, have to rape a gullwing SL round it first to unlock it.

nurburgring requires to be unlocked

This... is what disappointed me most haha

any pics of the polos

Volkswagen Polo Bluemotion Concept '06

Volkswagen Polo GTi '06

Makes me laugh people thinking they would really put this many polos in when you look at all the cars out there and if you have made models for games youll realise how dam time consuming it is.

You scoff at the lack of polos but when there is a Volvo 240 GL estate in the game you could say that anything goes pretty much.

I'm going to buy the next one I see in the used car bit and mod it to see if I can win the FR tournament with it.

I find it takes ages to load some tracks, even with a full hd install. I expect there will be alot of updates for it over the coming weeks. I had to download an update to 1.01 before I could even install the game!

Lack of some tuning mods compared to GT4 is quite annoying, like a racing brake upgrade.

No racing brake upgrades? Are they mad?!

What do they give you now to stop a highly tuned car? An anchor?

wall ride ftw...

I just blitzaed the FF tornument using a stock Toyota Vitza/yaris sport with 83bhp, owning 200bhp cars including a megan sport and a focus ST :?

All races I was over 6.5secs quicker then the 2nd place and they claim its the most realistic racing game around

Yes one of these-

- HOW THE FECKING HELL DOES THAT SOUND LIKE A CIVIC.... Argh same fucking sounds from GT3 ffs.

I think the lack of choice car wise and track wise is perfect to start with. Because lets be honest, its a driving simulator, if you were to go into racing for real you wouldn't go out and buy some silly powered special edition car and rag it round the ring as a novice.

You would start with a 12 year old Civic and drive it round a small track. Then eventually build up to the bigger stuff.

I also think the way the cars drive in the game is totally different to previous versions, the steering seems more realistic, the player has to slowly feed the lock on. Unlike previous versions were it seemed you just bang on full lock and the game would fine tune it to suit the corner.

Also this is the first GT where you can roll a car haha...anyone else done this? I rolled my Civic EG on the Top Gear track and got a "Rollover" trophy for it haha.

i love the way in almost every corner he bullys his way infront of the competition

You could have just skipped it and played it, and then installed it later on through the night or if you went down for dinner or something.

il stick with forza3 thanks 8-)

Just picked it up, let the good times roll 8-)
