lowering springs or coilovers for polo 6n?

looking for opinions on my polo 6n which has stock suspension on it and wanted to go lower by around the 100mm mark so was wondering if it would be better to get coilovers or lowering springs.

i would get coilovers because of the adjustment and drop they give you but i heard it makes the car very firm and not very good over potholes so on.... so was just wondering if it it as bad as eveyone makes out and witch would be the better ones to go for.
