if you are on standard front shock then it wont get any lower as it will just sit on the bump stops, my car had the lower arms hitting the body before i cleaned things up and run 15s - I've seen cars with 13s and the chassis modified to get more lows- so you need to keep going a lot more to beat them

as i found out lol. driving round on the bumpstops wasnt fun!

You will need more than coilovers, as kiz says above.. more to it than just suspension.

not aiming to be the lowest of the low as i drive it too much :p i doubt ill get to the point where the car will be modified around the suspension parts, just needs another 10mm now i think but ideally i should get front coilovers to do so

anyway shouldnt it be sill to floor measurements used to compare? like sill next to front wheel and sill next to rear wheel and compare that? its easy to have no arch gap, run bigger tyre/wheel combinations

and I've got the smallest rolling radius possible on the back haven't i? 195/45 on a 13x8? obviously could stretch it more on a 9 but then they'd poke too much and limit lows more

measurements if anyone's interested: downipe 2", midpipe at back 2", sill lip to floor front (chunky bit of lip) 3.5" and sill lip rear to floor 4.25"

downpipe height is irrelivant, midbox is irrelivant....

The sill should be a standard way of measuring ride height, as should top of front arch to floor.... measure with a tape on flat ground and report back with pics Jordon :-)

also mines still a 4 speed which is harder to have lower i seem to remember? i know I'm not the lowest still obviously, but now ben isnt on here i may have the lowest 4 speed so yeah only the top pic is the actually height it is now to avoid confusion, with about 1 and a 1/2 fingers arch gap all round

Oh and so you know, 4 speed and 5 speed are no different to ride height, ben just needed to man the fuck up and realise this when he was bitching about it.... Spent all weekend sorting Bens rear gearbox mount with him, with a stock mount it sat on the floor for reference of his ride height....

Just because you put about it being changed doesnt mean I'm not allowed to put a comment about it, i was going to add to it that you must be dedicated to run serious lows like that - but on reflection from your latest reply il just abuse the picture because its hard to read words

i know its not an indication of ride height I'm just pointing out how low my exhaust is hanging and why i cant lower it more till its sorted! and i dont have a midbox...

i have measured with a tape on flat ground as i put above... and i got 4 and 1/4 inches on the sill lip next to the rear wheel and 3 and 1/2 on the sill lip at the front wheel end where the lip is larger, not lip of the arch the sill as i know the arch goes even further

Anyway back on subject, mine measures 48.6 top of front arch to floor.

Couldn't find a tape measure long enough to measure mine :)

just measured bens arch to floor 45.5 front sill to floor 2" and rear 4"

Obviously not the lowest but we fabricated zaust and bent it all over to make it closer to the body, its about 3m off the driveshaft so its not the exhaust that is low!

i can touch the floor whilst driving and its fair to say its not very practical and i had to replace the center box and fuel lines as they were a bit scrapeey!

Anyone got any more info on the satin green one with tubbed arches etc and metal seats? Dunno if theres any pics in this thread of it or no.

i had a thread up about it trying to find info on it but all failed. just got a few pictures.

Its in my topics if you can be arsed to look lol, title is something like 'that polo' or something. i canny remember.

Cheers for the heads up mate, found the thread only has one pic in it mind. From the pic it looks like its running G60 arches on the front and normal mk2 golf arches on the rear. Top of the arch is much closer to the swage line and the front is way further up the wing, love the work thats gone into that car
