So...Whos got the lowest Mk1,2,3 Polo on here?

Featured Replies

the limit on coilovers abd shocks and springs is the bumpstops so the majority are the same or very similar height....

unless anyones running shortened shock units and cut down hubs.???

i've still got about 2 inch of thread left on my coilovers, like a idiot tho i welded the steering arms too high so i can't use it

i've got some front mk2 golf coilover springs to cut down tho so with the bump stops cut to suit i should be able to lay the sump on the road

yeah but if your bumpstops are still in the original place as standard you carnt go lower.you could have 100mm thread but once that top mounts on the bumpstop its reached its limit....

i cut my bumpstops in half and just rode about on those and chopped my spring practicaly in half to.. once i wad on the bumpstop the spribgs not required.....i thibk coilovers are pretty useless unless your running bigger than 13' rims.. just to perfect the stance...or if you have shorted shock units and cut the actual hubs down and weld the threaded section back on keepibg the shock in place..

believe me I've thaught long and hard about this with numerious different polos haha

That is still very low :-)

Roads round here would not allow anything like that low. Not even being a pussy you just wouldn't be able to do it.

i think 80mm down would be the limit around my end, any more and you run the risk of nipping brake lines and exhausts on pretty much anything.

I'm 80mm on the front and rough 50mm on the rear (so it sits nice) and I'm on 14" wheels and its fine to drive pretty much anywhere. Wouldn't want to be much lower though.

Yeah , just been looking at your GT thread, very nice OEM looking stance if you get me, Not to low , but just low enough.

They are TA techincs from a golf and any one that has used a set of these to their full potential will back me up when i say there is still so adjustment left in them when they have about 2-2 and a half inch of thread left

Yeah cheers!! It's definately low enough for me. I enjoy driving and don't want to have to avoid everything bigger than a grain of sand when i am out on the roads. Plus i like the OEM way it sits. Almost like it should have come like that in the first place :-) Could just do with being a touch wider on the rear. Might send the rears to have a cheeky inch welded in when i can be bothered with the fundage.

Just get some 20mm axle spacers 8-)

Think I need some coilovers and some fourteens with alittle of the ol'stretch going' on.

who doesnt lol?

ahh great thread guys iv raised mine since but i have a pic of the before times lol, i couldnt roll a fucking marball under the front! iv got a pic somewhere with it on flat ground with a close up on the marball lol

i was on coileys and supersport lowering topmounts and the coiley had a custon "step ring" so the spring sat lower than the end of the thread! :-D

iv developed a good yardy method of rolling arches if you dont have an arch roller or cant be arsed to pay someone to do it,

lower the car to whear you want it then get a bit of either 3 or 2 inch steel pipe (depending on how low it is).

bundle as many of your mates in the car as possible and while slowly reaversing stick the pipe between the tire and the arch lift to the correct angle and roll baby! (heat gun if cracking paint is an issue for you)

you could with ease (on min at least), my tires are preventing me from going any lower, i need to flare my arches :-(

i had a ride in that car, the best mk2 i've ever seen shame about what happened to it :-(

well use the yardy method i posted up garenteed to work and the best thing id the it profiles the arch around the wheels you have on!
