Yes you are wrong tubs. It is a beetle chassis, the mounts holding the body to the chassis were made from box section (at least some were anyway). I'd imagine the chassis was probably shortened to suit the shell like they do with the swb buggy's (could he wrong tho?)

Yeah the rear corner was fucked, looked like it had taken a massive one up the arse then had it pulled back in to some kind of shape. shame cause it looked clean in the above pic but at least its been given the chance to live on and is gonna be fucking epic, better that than the crusher
