bought direct from philJ - I dont understand how things can be so different, its all getting tweaked nicely though - I've just got a rear beam to explore the avenues of narrowing it and adding coilovers in a different way to how they are now, quite fancy running wide tires out back but not flaring arches etc

Because these really low cars arent just on a regular -80mm kit

Remember the rear of an -80mm kit will go to something like -100mm iirc, on the lowest setting.

Most polo's in here are static, only Guy's and Kiz's that I know of that were/are on air or hydro's. They're either kits with coils cut off and bits or coilovers.

Lowest and nicest imo I've seen is a white mk2 with stickerbombed Banded steelies, and an upswept exhaust. Was on bags though so doesent really count

wasn't the lowest tho Eric, he could still drive his when dropped, not saying it like its a pissing contest or owt but my mk3 was sitting on the floor when dropped. All good for bragging rights, but when a hose comes loose and empty's all the hydraulic fluid from the system while your driving down the road its not too clever

From the stories I've heard Rolo's mk3 on hydro's laid frame too, but would you really expect any thing else from him?

mk1 golf coilovers do seem to be the best method in my mind.

Although you could do the sensible thing and just get a mk1 golf

Yeah well maybe not the lowest but it was pretty slammed! Looked rude aswell! Haha i wouldnt put anything past rolo lol

There's still the fun with having to dodge every bit of debris and big bumps so the gearbox mount doesn't hit it until I can be bothered to make a new one

I'm going to make 1 special set of shocks which will get it the lowest you can whilst still being able to drive it!

a "bring the C spanners along set" where clipping the cats eyes with the sump happens not just the exhaust and speedbumps have to be taken at speed so you dont beach it

Proper chassis notching will be needed for that Kiz, I'm on the limits of how low you can got in an early polo without a proper notch (i've just trimmed away the excess metal where the drive shaft and tca hits

I would offer up my car as a test bed but ideally you need an early sumped lump for the added ground clearance

why are people 70-80mm down posting pics?

these things just dont want to go down - murdered a pair of 80mm shocks yesterday and added lowering top caps and still nowhere near low enough out front.

Coilovers are just silly money, think ill have to get something fabbed up to get it lower again, how have other people getting nice and low? apart from cheating with air? my bready is my first watercooled and there much more hastle than beetles that for sure!

Mk1 golf brakes bolt straight on to the polo anyway mate, the best set up on the mk1 is the gti's vented calipers which are exactly the same as the G40 ones

he'll be on about mine- in the faq i showed that i fitted massive 280mm Audi calipers.

I'm up for a notching seasion- got the tools, got the skills. we will be talking raising the engine though as it will be daft on the N/S shaft- definately one for a car which dont mind the potential for it to be so low it will eventually break.

Are you up for a raising wishbones, front turrets and engine session aswell Kiz? I have a golf I'll donate

that faq was awesome guys, will be getting the welder out in february hopefully.. I'm used to narrowing beams and messing around with tyre sizes instead of coilovers and all that jazz

always wanted to do an early breadvan and now I've got the chance to nail it before I move back onto the beetle for some crazyness
