You guys and your lowness bitching

If any of you are fitting PPP (or PPS) subframes, your not going any lower than -80mm without ripping it off, or snapping it in half.

I'm down about that much and the stage 2 is already battered from about 2 months of it being on the road (off the road now obviously)

The cambered road on the way into Santa Pod did most of the damage :-(

See that's the thing, I've never once tried to take credit, I've always given you all the credit as all I did was what you told me to do

Yeah right, you told me you though of it all yourself!

And someone was trying to copy you!

Fuck you max

You need a patent on it Kiz

the sue Guy for copying

it just pisses me off, although I'm glad i have to share the bloody questions with Guy "what CV joints do i use" "what top mounts do i use" "how low do i do this" how do i do that and it goes on and on and on and on

yeah but how low do i weld the steering arm ... :/

I think some people are just scared to pick the tools up and crack on, Bit of trail n error , sure it may cost a little more but nothing wrong with learning ..

I might have a go at using some threaded tube and 2.25" wide springs.. lower the arm, cut the spring cup off. That methods been done and would only cost about 50 quid if i can get some one to donate a set of coilover springs and a mk3 strut :p lol

Best start scrounging ey.

Problem is using the standard strut is always going to limit the height unless using shorter shocks and modifying the strut to suit, and your still gonna have no camber adjustment which on a slammed car is pretty important

Your always going to get people trying out other peoples ideas, it comes with modifying cars!

Guy, I'm not really doing it for stupid lows as i bottem out on these shitty roads .. i just want to experiment and also the spring will be seated as mine has got a little bit of movement when its jacked up ...

More for the adjustment side as i want to go down a tiny bit more, as you can see I'm not that low atm about 80 (60 kit with 3ish coils off ) but want to go down a tad more at front..

I'm guessing all the phil j kit shock insterts are the same length ?

As for camber I'm not too fussed but worste case i could get the camber ajustment top mounts ..

Best start learning to weld haha Need to as I'm making a stage 3 subframe for my final year college project thingy mabob !!!

As long as he has learnt before he attempts it.

if he is doing it in a college though he will have supervision and I'm sure the technicians will make sure that the welds are good, ( that is if the technicians are anygood)

Haha yeah the technitions are . My mums fella's been a fabricator for how long and has worked at JCB for a few years. I'm gonna fab the subframe my self but i think i might get my mums fella to do the struts.

I can weld but I'm not neat and am still learning .. Its just getting the settings right ..

Dont worry polomonmomomm I'm not that yeeeharr ;) ..

Slightly off topic but I would LOVE to know how you guys proper low get a jack under your car?

My 6n is nowhere near as low as these things and i can't get my trolley jack under it anymore.

I just about get my scissor jack under now and I've got half the thread left to go with the helpers out.

Do you lot like jack from the wheel arch or something?!? The only other thing I could think of was mk1-3's are light weight and you just pick them up and slide a jack under?

push on the side of the car to lift it a bit, or use a scissor jack to get it high enough for trolley jack

static - no chance il win as i wont give up my air- but I'm gunna throw on a couple of 13s this weekend and see how low mine is, i think I've got a chance of toppling you from that perch ben.

wont be for long as i love my porsche split rims to much to sell and get 13s

that could be interesting!! i want your air ride! lol

whats it handle like compared to say a coilover setup?

Not sure it would Kiz.

You would instantly hit the problem of driveshaft and that would be the limit, surely?
