MFA not working

Hi,

First post on here. In fact only found the forums today as I was looking for a solution to this.

I have just brought a MKIV Polo. This is the 9N, in my case from 2002. It's a 1.9 TDi sport (100 BHP version). Essentially brought as a (hopefully) reliable car to commute the few miles I do to work and back and thereby freeing up the family car.

It wasn't until today I noticed it has a multi function computer, it was the funny button on the end of the wiper stalk that started my curiosity. The problem is the display in not lit, the rest of the instrument cluster is working fine, just not the MFA. I have checked the fuse and that has not blown (though I did swap it to be sure, but to no avail).

Now, as I brought the car trade I should be able to go back to them and get it fixed, but if there is an easy solution I would be grateful to know what it is!

Any advice out there on this issue?
