bonnet bra's and other options?

i really like the look of the leather bonnet bras on a mk3 coupe, but due to all the other stuff i've got to do first i haven't got £60 just sitting around to be spent on a piece of leather.

i've also seen alot of T5's and the likes with full leathered bonnets and was wondering how this was done, is it real leather or can it be done with a cheaper alternative such as leather effect vinyl?

bit of a strange post i know, but i really want something similar on mine.....one day
