yes, very common. Unbalances the car to induce oversteer since power oversteer isn't possible.

One thing I don't think I've seen mentioned yet is to get your wheel alignment properly set up by someone with the correct gear who knows what they're doing. I don't mean a £15 10-minute track job, someone who will set it for fast road driving and knows how to set camber as well and aligns the front wheels with the rears.

Yup.. just use the hand brake to lock the wheels to get them to break traction and the 'Flick' helps to bring the rear end round

the S flick you turn the opposite way from the corner and then you turn into the corner the momentum of the rear end could bring the back end round by its self becuause you are braking which puts more weight over the front wheels and makes the back end lighter... but the hand brake can be used to break traction.

am not getting into arguments about how to drive, cause i know so many people who say words, and think they can drive, and are really just shit, drive the car in a way which makes it proper unsettled and lose loadsa grip anyway, if i actually drive fast (rarely) i heel and toe and all sorts in the rain, left foot brake etc, so yeah, I'm a racing driver, and i save it for the track, instead of being a nice person on the road

I found it was virtually impossible to heel and toe in a 6N unless you have deformed feet!

Perfectly easy to heel and toe in a 6n, and a scandinavian flick is a technique used by people who either know how to handle a car or end up hedges or ditches. no handbrake needed either, just a bit of a lift off for extra flare =]

also helps if your not braking into corners, should all be done before hand (braking, gears, correct revs etc.).

yuppp, slow in, fast out, as soon as you break grip it slows you down, may feel faster but its not, little steering input as possible and be as smooth as you can, i find in a 6n a scandinavian flick unsettles the car too much, more of a rallying technique :)

The More balanced your car is when you turn in the better it will corner, if you go in leaning on 3 wheels braking and floor it once your in the bend your gonna go straight on.

Also take some lock off if it starts to understeer, this helps the car find traction.

Had the same problem with the caterham.

ha on looser stuff yeahh, tyres will make a huge diff tho man, less body roll, but not really really stiff unless you can afford really good tyres, and afford to ruin them

Maybe try and find some 185 width wheels with a low profile. could make a nice difference =]

if a cars stiffer, its gonna work the tyres harder, as it relys on them more for grip/traction etc, so you gotta be prepared to pay the cost haha, i think my little 6n handles alright for a shitty old small car tbh

its the most satisfying thing in the world when you overtake a charver in a saxo in a car that simply doesnt handle as well.

people are far too aggressive with cars and say they handle poor, when they really dont, they can just be driven a lot better :)

lifting off mid corner to unsettle the car and make the back light is a fun way to get the rear out in a fwd car, my old 6n was a snappy little car when i did this but thats not surprising with it being so short, the leon however is the most predictable car I've ever experienced lift off oversteer in... on a private airfield roundabout obsviously
