I'm gonna fit a set of those EZ Shims (blue ones)...but just wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with them?

where did you buy them from?

what setting did you use?

Are people using a different type of Shim?

Pictures of the shimming in action would also be great to describe what you're using. 8-)

Regal autosport sell them matey, never had any experience with them yet, but believe each shim is adjustable to max of 1.5 deg of neg camber.

Yeah I had the EZ Shims on my Mk3, they're the ones most people use.. set to max camber which is about 1.5 degrees, and away you go..

cheers dudes...i wont have an issue with fitting them, its just the two rings turning them to the correct camber/toe angle is what will confuse me.

Do i go for the max then? -1.5deg and it wont cause too many issues with the tyre tread wear or cornering? I only plan to do the rear wheels.

Yeah pretty much max, 1.5 isn't a huge amount anyway, it won't help you're handling but it's not really going to be detrimental, and your tyres will probably just wear unevenly over time..

Yeah to be fair my 6n had neg. camber without any shims lol

These shims can also be used to set the camber back up to standard settings once the beam has been misaligned (ie, car lowered)

They adjust toe in/out too, so if they give 1.5 degrees max camber, then you could run up to 0.75 degrees neg/ camber along with 0.75 toe out for example..

They're not the most sophisticated things but they do a decent job lol..

i have no idea what to set them to...i do already have some neg camber due to it being lowered...might fit these to the front instead and go a bit lower on the front to get more stance which is the main reason for doing this, but last thing i want is the car swailing all over the road cos the wheels are pointed in different directions lol.

what do you reckon? shim the front...5mm space the rear and drop the front lower?

The camber shims don't work on the front, only on rear axles. The way to camber the front is to loosen the two bolts on the bottom of the strut between the hub and then you can move the hub in or out, giving you neg or pos camber. Will need a garage with the right tools to get them the same each side.

lol...i realised after i posted about that, i was thinkin to myself...you fool...you just undo the 3 13mm bolts on the bottom ball joint and adjust the strut bolts- worse case will be a camber adjusting top mount.

For now, the camber shims will go on the rear and you all say -1.5 neg on either side on the rear?

The bottom ball joint doesn't really adjust much or change the camber. Its the two large bolts holding the coilover to the hub, loosen these and you should be able to move the hub in to get some negative camber :thumbsup:

i Just took my hub off place a washer behind each bottom bolt and replaced the hub, cheap way :) looks like ths

how big was the washer? thickness wise? 1mm? or 2mm? i might do this as i think it'll be both quicker and less chance of messing with the toe angle on the rear.

Was around 2mm i would say i just used washers i could find a said of 4 :lol: works fine, just take the HUB off and place the washer on the two bottem bolts the repace and bam instant camber :)

Yep tis safe my mate has done it aswel, and exactly the right amout of camber to tuck my 7s with out rolling the arch as mine are a bit rusty

REVISION - it's not a pair. although they call it a kit it is in fact one shim.

And as far as customer service goes they are very rude. won't be using them again..!

It adjusts more on the front, not on the back as its a static rear beam. However you lower a polo 6n on the back it wont change the camber.

Mine was lowered around 100mm on 14x9's and everyone thought I was running shims when I actually wasn't...

I've never understood this. The wheels are fixed to the beam on the axles which in turn are fixed to the beam. The beam just rotates on it's pivots as you lower the car. So in theory no matter how much you lower or raise the car the camber should remain the same unless you are running loads of toe in. The only thing that will change is the angle of the dampers.

If this is wrong can someone please explain how you get more camber on a car with a rear beam by lowering it?
