mk4 6n 1.6 full mot £350

Featured Replies

I've got as far as i can be arsed with this car now.

i brought it cheap to fix and sell on and I'm now at a point where I'm not prepared to spend anymore money on it so its either for sale whole or i will break for spares either way it has to go.

Make:VW Polo 6n

Model:1.6 8v glx

Year/Reg:1995

Mileage:131k

MOT:12 months!!!

Tax:end of the month(sep)

Good points:Full mot, interior is pretty much all there and in pretty good nick the drivers seat has got bolster wear but not to bad, pass side doorcard is out(still have it) drivers side in but missing the speaker cover. been lowered not sure how much but its lower than standard, no advisories on mot so all bushes/brakes etc are all fine perfect for a 20vt conversion.

16v bumpers with debadged grill, mk1 golf spider wheels with 2 brand new tyres on the front plus a full set of original alloys(all tyres no good) plus a set of steels with good tyres.

Bad points:bodywork is pretty terrible, loads of surface rust all over the car, big dent in pass wing, dent in pass door, rear pass arch needs doing however only surface, drivers side rear arch wants doing again only surface, loads of stone chips on rear q panel, bonnet has a lot of laquer peel and the top of the pass door has laquer peel. 5th gear whines and there is a pretty big rattle coming from either the thurst bearing or gearbox? still works fine tho. engine is ticking over high(1250rpm) and the revs stick a little before returning to idle, god knows why but it seems a common problem, otherwise engine runs sweet and pulls well, i drive it daily with no issues. rear bumper is cracked so will need to be fillered. front lower grill is cracked and half of it missing, front plate is also cracked but passed mot like it so still readable.

overall a good project car due to the full mot, it had no advisories either so all is sweet it just either wants a new box and the idle problem fixed or an engine conversion(perfect for a 20vt). i only brought it to sell on, obviously the more money i spend now the more it will cost later. all the body work is easily fixed with a bit of filler and primer and paint. 100 quid would see all the bodywork done and matt blacked. wich is the cheap and probably more sensible option. gearbox of ebay is around the 200 mark and they are easily changed with a bit of patience. car cost me 150, tyres and mot were 100 so ill make 100 quid if it sells at 350, for 350 its still a sweet little project car. the longer i keep this car the more work i will do and obviously the price will go up!

dont ask me to break just yet either i want the whole car gone in one, if it dosnt sell then i will break just give it time to see if anyone wants it whole!
