  • New wheels these arrived yesterday (tuesday), used Paisley frieght, and got to say well impressed with the service. Need lower profile tyres, they're 205/55/16s, thinking about 195/45/16s. Anyw

Tidy car have u not got the 9n tailights ? imo would look better with the normal tailights instead of the 9n3 ones but everyone till there own opinion.

Keep us posted on updates :-)

Brilliant car ;)

Nice job, not sure about the rear lights, but if you love 'em, we love 'em!

I can't find two spare alloys like ours ANYWHERE!

Lights came on it, I'm still not sure on them totally, thinking some red Laminex would work

Thanks (:

They're the 15" Melbourne alloys right? I'm planning to keep these for my winters for now. Let you know if I plan to sell them though

They are, there were one set on eBaY that have gone now :( My front two are screwed thanks to the previous owner loving kerbs!

how are you finding those coilovers mate? nice looking car

These arent perfect either, the other side has some kerbing towards the centres, somehow, on the drivers side. Its beyond me. But the other two are pretty g ood.

Car still isnt on the road, cant insure this until I sell my old one. But its definately stiff. I drive alot of country roads so the ride is fairly harsh, but not uncomfortable. I haven't totally tested it, just took it up some quiet backroads to see if I had any knocking.

it looks like the front badge is sprayed in that last pic?

It was orange, then I decided orange didnt suite this car. Its all black now, might do it yellow though, what do you think?

These are the two best ones, the other two has some bad peeled laquer so need a refurb, cant decide on gold or gunmetal centres though

Gold! Scooby style :p

Looking swish man!

Does that mean you're deffo getting rid of your Melbournes? ;)

I'm planning on keeping them for a while, I need to refurb these before I put them on anyway.

I'll post on here if I'm going to sell them ;)

Nice looking car dude, whats the ride like on those coils? cheers

Still not insured as I'm waiting on the sale of my old car, Saturday hopefully :D

But from what I have driven it, its a little bouncy in my rutted drive, but doesn't seem too bad when I've driven it up and down the road. I'll let you know when I'm insured on the beast (:

Not done a huge amount to the car lately, apart from get it rather dirty. It's been on the roads for a few weeks now. Ride isn't too bad to be honest, a little bouncy sometimes but expected from cheap coils.

Bought a set off alloys to practise polishing the lips before I attack the BBS's. Really pleased with the result so far though. Thinking for gold centres for the BBS's now too.

Photos will follow (:

Trying to source a gearbox for the 100hp engine is a nightmare. I've decided to go for a box from a 75hp 1.4 16v instead, and hoping it'll hold up to the 35 ish horsepower extra it'll have once I get my remap.

Small update, got some more alloys for the car, £100 ebay special, need a slight refurb of the lips. Come with 4 new tyres too :D but I need low profiles.

Going to keep em a secret until they're on though :nahnah:

On another note, my engine is sounding more and more diesely on idle these days, figured its probably the tappets, as its nearly hit 106k. My question is, should I bother flushing it with Wynn's or considering replacing them? Baring in mind I dont really know what they even do specifically. :uhm: could do with some help on this one

Also going to be changing the oil to Quantum Synta 10w 40, heard its the best for VW engines, espeically valvers. £20 for 5 litres isnt cheap but probably worth it

Not undated on here in ages

Got my wheels on a few days ago, got to say I'm very pleased with how the rears sit, although I'm going to need some arch work doing so my car will make it over bumps. :uhm: front needs to go a little lower but I could really do with shorter droplinks, heard mondeo ones fit ?

My £30 Falkens look good, 195/45/16s on a 7 inch rim, slight stretch, always liked Falkens becuase of their flat sidewalls. Anyway, met up with a few folk last night, took a few photos so here's the whoring :lmao:

Looking good chunky! Which falkens did you get? I've run 2 sets of ZIEX ze-912s and i swear by them!

  • Author

Thanks bud ;) long time no se.

I think they're ZIEX something, something I can;t pronounce anyway. They're epically grippy, definatly going to get more

How's your new car coming along?

Sorry to hear that, least it's covered.

Burst a front shock at the start of this week. On the look out for some new front coilies. Been drooling over air ride for this but don't think it'll happen, especially as I'm planning to sell up in October :(

Okay, think I'm going to sell the polo now. Looking for £2500 without the mercedes wheels. Will come with coilovers on, and I've got the standard sport suspension for them too. Could do with 2 new tyres for the standard alloys. Tape player and 6 cd multi changer. 112K miles, was serviced about 6k ago with all new filters, plugs and oil. Will get another oil change before sale. Genuine VW Quantum oil used. Will come with the standard air box.

Needs a new lambda sensor fitting, light on for emmisions on the dash. New starter motor less than 500 miles ago. Starts right up every time without fault. Passed it's last MOT without any real hassle.

PM me, wanting this gone. Will part exchange for a mk3 Golf TDi.
