i am 6G code aswell mig and tig so do no abit about welding

as said am not having a dig am just pointing something out

Woa man I was only asking as I work for Esterline at Stockton that's all.

And to be honest for the sake of it you may well be in good faith but looking at the scale of this build what possible benefit could questioning the strength of the weld when all you can see is distant photo's.

we both know a mig weld does not have to be pretty to be strong and with all the plate going in it will tie in just nicely.

but that dont matter how much plate is put in if there is a lot of penetration problems

Oh and as your 6G coded so all you can do is perform a Grove weld in a fixed pipe at 45%??

Coding just means that you have sat the training and follow the WPS and propa welders don't quote what coding they have unless they are in an interview and Pete's build thread is not an interview.

right best do a bit of an update no pictures though unfortunately as still no laptop

currently building the car up for a full mock up and making sure everything fits and clearance for whats needed.

the rear end isnt fully adjusted yet and it only just fits in the garage will upload some pics to instagram this week/weekend as have friday off for working on it.

anyway i thought i would do an engine spec so people can see what work has gone into the motor alone so here goes:

BCB block machined to run oil squirters and sump bolt holes re drilled on one side to match steel sump not standard ally for this block.

back of the block has had casting removed for clearance on driveshaft and transfer box.

top of block has been skimmed to clean face and raise C.R. a little

lightened, knife edged and balanced AFH chain drive crank machined at one end for drive pegs for chain conversion.

Forged 1.8 20vt conrods machined to reduce thickness from 25mm to 20mm and the little end rebushed from 20mm to 17mm

Forged 1.6 gti polo pistons low comp should make the engine around 8:1 C.R. with the decking and head skim

Head is mildly ported and skimmed and fully rebuilt

Full Cam chain conversion with Vernier Sprockets and hydraulic tensioner.

Full dry sump setup currently being made running a 3 stage Weaver brothers dry sump pump

Fuel lines are full stainless braided teflon with AN6 fittings

CBR 1100 Individual Throttle Bodies with custom billet ally machined manifold

custom ITB inlet plenum

2.5" boost hoses and front mount intercooler

Billet ally fuel rail

5 bar 044 fuel pump running from ally tank in boot and custom swirl pot.

water meth injection setup

550cc injectors

BV50 VG Turbo should easily run upto 2 bar of boost

38mm external wastegate

g60 lightened and balanced flywheel with VR6 Carbon Kevlar clutch

02M Audi TT Quattro Gearbox

custom turbo manifold

3" stainless downpipe into 2.5" main system

Omex 600 ECU with additional extras

Custom alloy rear water pipe

Custom alloy thermostat housing

Custom alloy rear breather setup linked into dry sump system

Full alloy radiator pipes

fully alloy Radiator with modified inlet / outlet pipes placement

thermostatic sandwich plate with oil cooler setup

Billet 30 micron free flow oil filter with remote filter setup

and more will update as i remember later

loads done since the last update just too lazy to spend hours loading pictures to update on here and broke my iphone so waiting on that getting fixed.

I do upload pics onto my instagram everytime i work on the car though and progress will slow now as just bought a house and it needs ALOT of work.

Other than that not too far off paint stage then final build up.

Don't worry not dead definitely still going. Just on hold while I sort my new house and build the garage for it. But loads done since last proper update. Just don't use a computer much anymore so I don't really upload pics or update but will try get around to it soon maybe this weekend.

Believe me it will get finished although looking at it I probably have a 6 months to a years worth of work left to go into it to get it how I want plus it needs a lot more parts. Which is money I don't have ATM while renovating the house.

Yeah it is in the final stages I would say as shell is near completion mainly few mods left and then paint. Then final build up for testing.

House comes first ATM tho as have half a bathroom and half a kitchen done so need these finished and garage built to get all my tools and machines out the house

I recognise that story my man, sounds all too familiar. Hopefully my garage goes up this spring.
