And it will be linked into the main frame

I also couldn't mount it off the turrets as the diff needed to be in so I could work out where the new turrets at going as it will now be 10cm wider track either side

I also need to mount as much into the chassis to incorporate the chassis into the frame especially for the sva test

Otherwise i should have just made a full space frame and put the shell on top which is not what I wanted as that would just be a kit car with a polo shell

I want it to stay a polo so am mounting as much to the chassis as I can and strengthening it everywhere needed

And Ben I will be adding spreader plates to the chassis rails where the bars go across don't worry I'm just trying to get the main bits done ATM

And nearer crimbo I am going to try and get an industrial mig welder to replace my hobby mig :) its just they are very expensive £450 plus so I need to get funds together for one and il also be purchasing a tig welder too

I start my level 2 ally tig welding course tomorrow night all being done off my own back

And my ally top mounts are in th post on their way to me so I can get started on the rear suspension mounting later on this week

But I'm losing most of this weekend as I'm taking the misses upto Sheffield for Uni so hopefully il still get some done Sunday afternoon when I get back

I mention the diff thing as 1 post you say you want sills preety much laying (a plan) then when you put it into practise it isent achieved and given you've remade you whole floor theres no excuses :p

I ment spreader plates under the horizontal bars between the chassis legs so they dont just pull out the rails.... I'll wait til its done to see how its done then

TIG is by far the best welding technique, slow it may be but if a jobs worth doing, its worth doing to the best possible level, and with TIG you get the most penetration of the parent materials.

I actually prefer ARC/MMA welding to MIG too eric, there's just something about MIG i can never get on with.

Sheffield uni you say pete, she starting there this year or something? I start on 2nd of OCT

I have an arc welder also I'm just not a fan of it I prefer MIG and I have done TIG before at college I have a level 1 in it I just want to take it further

I would prefer to have spreader plates underneath the cross bars but I will add them in to still strengthen across the chassis rail I have a way tht will work and will also be a mounting place for something else :)

Also the cross braces I put in have replaced strengthening that was already in the floor pan so they needed to be where they are so it's not as if I could have mounted them higher as it would compromise the shell rigidity

So it's like I've said that's not the problem for the diff height it's the lack of space available

And if it's not stupid low then oh well it's still gunna be 4wd and that an achievement anyway

Buy a TIG welder thats capeable of ARC welding eric, only £550 for the one i bought! lol

Because its more controllable it is widely used when welding aluminium yeah, stainless can also be quite difficult to weld if its not uber clean,

Its absaloutley piss to TIG weld soft or bright steel, mild too.

Its one of the R-tech welders, google them. Two years garuntee too.

So surely a mig is best for steel, just wandering why people use the tig for it, i guess its personal preference?

Its hard enough to properly TIG weld aluminium, MIG is even harder, for lesser results.

Stainless is also tricky.

Best as in neatest and most penetrable, never had a go a tig welding myself so i don't know lol

Well best would be TIG everytime, neatest and has most penetration.

Just watched last nights new series of "Wheeler Dealers" they put an AC Cobra kit car in for the SVA £400

Will you be gutted if it's slower than it was on carbs cause there's approx thirteen thousand tonnes of box section/tube?
