il be mounting the steering rack onto the cage using a small bracket with spherical bearing to stop the play you get from the shitty standard bearings

and may also be putting a mk1 golf full steering rack in too if i can make it fit this will bring the steering arms down alot lower giving more clearance and will mean i can run standard front mk1 golf coilovers so more standardised parts meaning easier to replace when they wear or break :)

and thanks Dan i wish you could see who put what stars just curious thats all and am not saying this is a 5 star build but I'm putting alot of effort in and I'm sure thats worth 5 stars lol

there isnt many other people on here going to the same level as me but tbf thats part of why I'm doing it

Absolutely Fantastic. Admirable!

NICE

great work on the new parts.... in regard to the plenum, why are both ends open if you have an inlet tube in the middle?

  • Author

you will see about the open ends when its fully finished ;)

and thanks guys appreciate the nice comments

This is awesome man!!!

To whoever doubted you welding.... look at that shit now!!! :o

Some of the welding is mine and il be honest some is the welding tutor who i have known for years but he has said I've picked it up very well and its just getting in the swing of it my problem is not having the access to a tig out of college so i cant get any practice but hopefully il be buying one next year

he just wanted to do a few bits so it looks nice for my engine bay and he enjoys welding he was telling me today even though he is a college welding tutor he barely gets to do any welding which isnt what you would expect

I'm glad you admitted that it wasnt just your welding in that, because it makes some of my work look shit and I've been welding alloy bits for a long time now.

good work Pete

Do you have access to an acid hydrolysis wand? Would clean the slag and burn of those welds a treat (well at least it did on stainless)

Looks good though pete, a real DIY build. There will be very little polo left!

Ooo more shiny stuff! Love it mate - not sure people fully appreciate the time consumption in making some of these things so fair play indeed! Youre flying along now. Like the thermo housing again, you know I liked your old one from your NA setup hey :)

haha the good old bready climbing frame :)

good work though dude!

Your making me skint -__- You have text.... GOt a few more bits i need, cash should be with you this afternoon for the bits ordered already.

Just so you know, the furthest most inlet tract (no.4) is not going to get air at the same speed as inlet tract 1, the taper for the plenum at the base is ment to taper to reduce space/increase air speed to get it in quicker.... so I've read anyway. Alot of the turbo ford lads make plenums and theres alot of talk of them on turbofiesta and passion ford :-)

1 and 4 will end up getting the same and 2 and 3 will get more but as I'm running itbs it doesn't make as much difference as a single TB

And I've done the same sort of thing as a few others I've seen on itbs I'm sure it will work fine I checked to see how Lance had done it before I decided and his is the same sort of way

And il be making a new manifold maybe out of solid alloy and just pure machining it

Got hold of some solid 40x80 ally billet last night for free worth a big chunk of dolla so pretty happy with that

And if I can't machine it from solid il make the base plate and get some runners welded on ;)

So you wont be running a body to get air into the plenum? One that opens a fraction of a second before the bodies on the inlet tract? Thought you were.

Loving the thermostat anyway dude, my order is placed haha!

EDIT: more pictures loaded.... Your running the pipe out the middle not the end... lol My whole point is now invalid -__- haha sorry.

Plenum will we fine, the taper is more important on NA engines.

Good work laddo, cant wait to see it again!

Cracking work pete, do you plan out before you start cutting or are you more like me and just do it as it goes along then think "thats a good idea"?

Either way nothing nicer than custom machined bits and bobs ;)

Keep it up!
