il be going to get some more tube tomorrow to make a bolt on front lower brace to sit the rad on and also put an engine front steady mount on like in mk1 and 2 golfs for extra engine support

will also start making the mounts for the front panel to bolt on

another quick update the bolt on front lower brace is on and nearly finished just need to add a little extra support for it as it will have the radiator sat on it and also the intercooler and maybe oil cooler.

also made the supports that the front panel will bolt to

heres the pics

so made up some little plates that bolt onto the front panel

front of front panel with bolt heads basically how it will look on the car

then started by bending the front brace bar and kept matching it up to wher ei wanted it to fit til the bends were right

then welded on the steel mount plates

front lower brace in place sitting under the front panel

chassis mount plates tacked into place

welding the chassis mount plates on (just enough for now til I can get better access when the cars out)

then made up the chassis brace mounts for the bolt on front panel (not fully welded on yet as need better access)

not too long now til il be getting the car on its side ready to put all the new floor pan on underneath and sorting out the smaller bits

just got to make it a rolling chassis first on its own wheels and not on the chassis dolley

wont be for sale on there own I'm afraid as i want to sell it all as a management kit. I've a brand new 5 gallon airlift tank, brand new 380c compressor, ViAir tank switch (120psi on 145psi off)the 2way F&B setup with the digital pressure gauge and 3 senders (1 for tank) all the wiring and switchs and 8mm lines with a bucket load of fittings.

i wasnt even sure what to ask for all of it let alone splitting it. i was expecting £350 for all of it- what did you get your tank and comp for?

I've actually got all of the kit except valves and bags tbh

I have one solenoid valve just not bought the rest yet as I was working out sizes and wanted bags before buying more

I've designed my own static+ sort of system that I may use with my coilies just need to make the prototypes and trial them instead of running full airbags to make handling better

And I paid around the £300 mark for all of it

I would be interested in your full setup tbh just not right now as there is some other bits I need to buy ATM to progress the car first before I think about it and would want to have made these

So it's a pity your not selling in a month or two

What are you doing with your airbags you keeping them

I'm gutted as there is loads of stuff popping up this month and I'm mega skint due to really whacking up my savings for a house deposit before I move out

but to start I just want to vent the fact there is a certain PATHETIC Moderator on this forum I wont name names if your reading my build bugger off don't want your help, advice or anything to do with you so just don't even bother reading this or following it

Just to clear something else up I'm not running Digifant management as for my needs its shit and couldn't cope at all

I will be running Emerald K6 management

anyways heres a little update

made some bolt on mounts

this is where they will go

then made some more weld on braces and lightened them before welding them into place

weld on braces in place

started welding in the rear bulkhead X brace

also started notching the outer front chassis rail to allow extra space for suspension camber adjustment

then started adding strengthening braces to the turret corners

then started closing the turrets up by adding the side on

these obviously aren't finished yet but its started

you checked if the bonnet fits yet dudee?

and careful on the whole freedom of speech thing, itl get you banned.

bonnet will practically close needs a little modification but no big gaps will get a pic next time I pull the car out properly

just waiting on payday now so I can buy the bits to make the front wishbones as I'm not using the escort adjustable tcas and compression struts on the front I'm making my own complete adjustable wishbones now just need to order the parts

yeah I know about this freedom of speech thing getting people banned tbh I didn't do anything wrong I was trying to help Tominator yet I was in the wrong

itll affect CP as a whole as the more knowledgable members will get pissed off and stop coming on here I already know of a few who cba to come on here anymore due to all the crap at least I'm still trying to help

Good update again, and I don't see what everyone's crying about, it's varied opinions and different ways of looking st things, if everyone thought the same everything would be boring and the same, I disagree/would do lots different to how you are on this build, but that's what makes it yours not mine

I have valves and air springs Pete will give you all four way shift,we can sort something out.

finally another update its been a while and I've been doing little bits as and when I can due to doing a lot of work for other people and also life getting in the way too and I'm back riding my bmx and getting back to scratch on that.

anyway the front suspension turrets are now finished I've filled in the gaps and seam welded them fully outside and the majority inside for extra strength

also started sorting out the headlight mountings as I'm getting rid of the front slam panel full stop

how the front end looks with nothing bolted on

started making the custom adjustable front wishbones

I have all the rose joints and clevis joints to make the arms so these will be being made up over the next week or two and then I can starting mocking up the chassis mounts for the wishbones once the engine is moved into its new place

bought a spotweld gun attachment for my arc welder this will come in real handy with putting the floor pan and body panels in

also bought some M5 and M6 captive weld on nuts

these will stop me having to use nuts and bolts for a lot of the bolt on parts

so I started by welding some on for the bolt on front panel

the front end coming together panel wise

decided I wasn't happy with how far forward the engine sat in the bay so front of the tranny tunnel/firewall choppy choppy for version 2

new bracing started

Just waiting on some more tube to finish it off then I can move the engine 2 inches further back which will give me more room in front for the turbo setup and clearance for the radiator and will also bring the driveshafts back level with the suspension turrets

also did the windscreen braces

paint cleaned off back to bare metal

all welded in place I used 2mm thick sheet for strength

then Welded the tunnel vertical braces that will have the seat cross braces welded to them

actually quite a lot since the last update I didn't realise

anyway more to come now just waiting on picking up more tube and sheet steel on Tuesday to finish off the front of the tunnel and to start getting the floor in

not too much left of the chassis and bracing left to do now so il be getting onto the bodywork once that's done and its back on 4 wheels

I can't believe the amount of work that's going into this

I've actually put hundreds of hours into it and probably more and so much effort but I'm enjoying it and I'm hoping it will be as fun to drive as its been to build

I'll echo whats been said too.

I'm glad you moved the engine back. I was never 'happy' with the drive shaft angle but this looks like it should be much better. Will you have to get a new Prop made?

The driveshaft angles weren't a problem they were well within good angles of drive tbh

Only reason I'm not happy is the clearance situation in front of the engine

For the turbo, radiator and inter cooler

And I haven't finished making the prop yet as that is one of the last things to do chassis wise

Reckon I'll give you a shout Pete when i want a roll cage in mine!!

Welds look great. Pure engineering going into this, so easy for people to pick stuff apart when they couldn't get near this level of fabrication. Great work man!
