Awesome as usual, its so fucking wide!

Why not get some GRP arches made using the steel ones as a template. Weight saving and money making. And I think you should fuck the sun roof off all together and option C would be the best

The roof is now cut out but i shall be trimming some more away to make the original roof minimal and will be ordering aluminium sheet to replace it in the near future once the shells near completion which hopefully wont be too long

also have the majority of bits now to start building the engine so the block and gbox will be pulled out tonight to get the chassis on the dolley and then flipped on its side this weekend for the floorpan to go in next week

may also be ordering a G60 flywheel with VR6 carbon kevlar clutch this weekend too for the beast

its coming together

progress is abit slow atm due to doing alot of work for other people but I'm getting round to it while also sorting the house from moving still as it takes so long to unpack everything.

thanks for the comments guys more proper updates to come soon

More progress to come as I have more floorpanels cut ready for welding and making more templates to cut more panels daily

hardest bit is going to be joing it back up with the shell especially with the plans I have in mind but you will all find out as they come to fruition

enjoy some real progress

The panels n the tunnel look poor as they didn't bend and just buckled, shame you went ahead with that, seems a little half arsed when you consider the effort you have put in everywhere else.

Where will your exhaust run?

I'd personally have bead rolled the floor panels to add some strength too, & what higgo said.

Masses of progress again though!

  • Author

I don't need anymore strength in the Floorpan it's more than strong enough for what's needed and bead rolling it would ruin the completely flat bottom I'm going for

As for the rear tunnel sides I'm not finished with them yet. I have just purchased and received a panel beating hammer and dolly kit to sort out the creases and get the panels how I want them so they do not ruin the effort of the car.

The exhaust is all ready planned just need to make sure it will fit so wait and see

Pure porn Pete. Keep it up.

  • Author

well its update time again

used the hammer and dolly set quite a bit already and tidied up the rear tunnel sides as best I can pictures don't really do it justice but they do look a hundred times better now

9734362744_ca1e5dbc2e.jpg
IMG_3487 by pjdirtjumper, on Flickr

only got halfway with clocking the turbo as I needed to drill and tap an extra hole to spin the exhaust housing round

this is now done so just need to put it all back together and will take pictures as I do

and as far as I'm aware no one else has managed to clock one of these turbos before I'm not sure why as its a piece of piss for what needs to be done and even if you cant drill it properly yourself a machine shop would do it for less than a tenner. took me about 5 mins if that on the milling machine :)

a bit more progress now

spotwelded the floor pan along the sill edge and also to the sill. Then rather than cut off the excess sheet I folded it over the original sill to strengthen it further

found some surface rust on the sills but I cleaned it all back to bare metal and jenolite zinc treated it

also cleaned the sill lip back to bare metal and zinc treated that before rolling the excess floorpan over and I will seam weld along the outer edge now for strength

Nice work! Is jenolite any good? I've been using POR 15 paint.
