Plate work looks mint Pete!

I wouldn't worry to much about the welds you will be able to loose all that with seem sealer and stone chip.

I am coming round to the chain conversion now much more compact than the belt set up and its pretty much fit and forget.

Good progress mate,

Ow and I've found a bottom bolt and pulley if you still need it I can get it posted Monday.?

Didn't realise I haven't updated in so long as there's actually more progress to report than I thought. Just a pity my internet at home is fubarred. But as soon as it's back working there's a massive update coming

This is properly bonkers

this needs more pictures ;) get your net sorted! lol

  • 2 weeks later...

yeah I can't really add anything again that's constructive other than its epic! :)

That cam chain conversion looks epic! How are you gonna tension it are you modifying one of another

Car or making it? Are you robbing a chain aswell from a car and modifying it

Or getting on specially made? Keep up the mental work I'm sure this thing will win awards.:p itleast on here Haa

  • Author

the Cam Chain conversion will have a hydraulic self adjusting tensioner which is a generic one from older cars I have managed to get hold of cheap.

This means it will be more of a fit and forget conversion

The chain I have bought a 5 metre long length of the correct pitch chain to match the sprockets so I just de-link it and rejoin it with the split link at the correct length I wish to run

right now I have some internets il do an update and it will be a massive one as I haven't done one in a while and lots of progress has been made.

I'm not sure how i will go about lubrication yet i have two options
drip feed lubrication or bathed
so once i start installing it all i will work out which one I'm going to use
more than likely bathed and will be making a custom aluminium end engine casing to keep it all clean and sealed up

yes i know its not even and there is a reason for this

firstly to make it easier to get in the car so its lower at the front and secondly the A pillar mounting is opposite to a front chassis rail mounting

i will be adding gussets into the centre soon aswell

Sweet, some major work gone into this thing now pete, can't wait to see its first 1/4.

  • 2 weeks later...

So are you making you are own end casing for the engine so the chain can be lubricated by the engine oil like normal chain driven engines?

Because u can't run the chain dry surely?

Well great read! I've just spent my whole morning reading your thread, about 3/4hrs! And I'm only at March 2013!

Will continue to read another time!

Great work though, extremely inspiring!
