well I've had since thursday off work so far and dont go back to work til wednesday this week but only used one day of holiday so pretty happy anyways to update the engine is now in after alot of problems and hassle and having to buy even more new parts its in anyways heres some pictures.

Lots done so far and still two days of holiday left to do loads more need to start doing the wiring now and sorting my new gauges and senders out and getting all the fuel system sorted dont know when it will be running yet but its on its way soo happy about progress so far hope you guys enjoy.

Any updates...

yeah got lots of updates done quite a bit just cant upload my pics atm as i smashed my phone and its been sent for repair but i managed to unload all my pics onto my other pc but its not got the interweb so no pics atm and i cant take any of what i have done thursday, friday night and all day today so i will list it.

Got all my parts back from anodising on friday this included my water distributor that replaces the thermostat housing, my inline thermostat housing as i deleted it from the distribution bit i made and a radiator hose connector.

so thursday night i made a bracket to hold my heater matrix inside the car as i have smoothed the bay. and this also has a bracket that holds my secondary fusebox for accesories, alarm, electric windows, central locking etc.

then fitted the bracket and heater matrix in the car fits really good and sits perfectly behind the dash and the centre console will take pics when i get my phone back.

friday night i fitted my water distributor and made the brackets to hold my slimline fan to my full alloy honda civic radiator that i have fitted.

i then fitted everything in and started fitting my hoses but have found out i need to buy another 90 degree silicone bend oh well payday this week and also need to get a new lower temp thermostat and a rad fan switch for this radiator.

then went corby indoor skatepark (adrenaline alley) for the locals night was pretty good session me and about 12 mates had the whole of the skatepark to ourselves so mega sesh went down. rode from 9 til half 12

saturday got up at half 7 for overtime at work 8 til 12 and then i got on the car.

first job i wacked the windscreen out as it was chipped and i have a new green tinted one to fit and as i pushed it out about 4 massive cracks appeared in it so definately dead and whoever fitted it last had bodged it as some of the seal was ripped on the inner bit and they had stuck loads of sealant in the seal too.

so with the screen removed i found two small rust holes on the passenger side so i cleaned these up and welded the holes. the i ground them smooth and cleaned up the rest of the small bits of rust body fillered them to make it smooth and got rid of the passenger side wiper blank indent.

then removed the sunroof to find it was fitted a bit shitty when it was first done, they had just used a grinder to cut the shape in the roof and had not cleaned up the edges properly after or treated the bare metal so yet some more surface rust.

after this i started to clean the glue residue off the roof that had glued the textured vinyl wrap on which i removed earlier on in the week.

also cleaned up all of the front panel ready to spray tomorrow as the whole car is going back to mars red no.2

left to do to get the engine running:

finish sorting carbs and fit

fit radiator hoses

fit rocker cover

sort all wiring

fit dash

fit speedo and gauges

will add pics as soon as i can and this next week or two alot more should be going on

well finally have some pictures i can add of my progress over the last two or so weeks its really coming along now and not much left to do to get it running :)

so coilovers fitted on the front finally with upgrade to vented mk1 golf gti vw11's

painted and fitted front brace/ radiator support bar

New silicone rad hoses

new honda civic full alloy radiator fitted

water distributor fitted after it was anodised

inline thermostate fitted also anodised

fuel pump, fuel reg and fuel filter fitted with teflon lined s/s braided hose

Also rewired alot of the car too

pretty happy but will be looking alot better soon once finished

so pleased with how its looking now just a few more bits to sort out then it should be on the road running but got to sort it for mot straight away :( most of its new i only think the chassis is left original and even thats heavily modified lol so should hopefully pass

yo pete, nice engine bay man, hardly looks like a polo one now! I like what you've done with the radiator, it's a really good idea and gives a bit more space in the bay. does mean custom hoses are required tho..

I think paint the DOHC 16V letters red

yeah thats what I'm going to do with the letters think it will make it look so much better just sorting more important things atm trying to get it all sorted and running then il do the little tarting up bits

update tried to fit my new green tinted windscreen with my dad on thursday night and it must have been stressed as it cracked while we were fitting it. luckily rang a local guy up he sourced me a 2nd hand windscreen and fitted it for £50 and it was also green tinted to so extra money I've had to pay out but worth it now its done and have also started respraying the car back to mars red no2.

so heres some more engine bay pics engine is now running after alot of wiring issues and a few other problems carbs need some balancing and tuning and all my brakes need rebleeding after fitting a bias valve for the rear and vw2 vented front calipers and discs. got a few more things to put back in the bay like oil breather catch tank, custom rad expansion tank, custom washer bottle, and the wiper motor but like i said engine is now working but definately needs setting up properly.

also fitted my new custom clocks i love them I'm sure some people wont inside needs sorting and tidying and i also now have a working handbrake thats basically all custom made by myself too well apart from the actual handle and ratchet mech but all the fitting and cable routing etc.

anyways heres the pics and at some point the inside will be done properly i just need the car back on the road asap now so i can get to NASS.

what you guys think i haven't seen the custom clocks done before and i used a sheet of 2mm thick aluminium and cut it by a hand guillotine and then filed it all to get the shape right and then marked all the gauge holes and then hand filed all of them out too so i put alot of hard work into it its not perfect but I'm going to spray it soon to go with the colour scheme you guys will have to wait and see as i now have big plans for the interior

clocks are cool but would look better if they sat a bit further back in the dash! nice build tho bud

all wired in and working but haven't managed to check air/fuel ratio yet as have to get the engine fully warmed up to warm the lambda sensor for it to start reading

and cant get it to sit back any further as i would have to make support mounts for the top and I'm lazy and it would also leave a big gap at the top where you could see all the wiring behind still need to add two more switches to it and some leds for the like turn signal indicators etc

Looks like it came out of a plane!! I like it, should get a Compass in there and a yaw gauge, ( I think its a yaw gauge) :p
