Yeah sure well I will give my dad a text and let him know I need it off, then get back to you! The paints not great on it, but it's a nice door, no dents and only minimal surface rust along the bottom.

Small updateee:

Got a new headunit, doesnt sit very well but its going to be in use until i find another one! As I'm not going without music on my travels haha.

And managed to push my door so it seals, but still all crooked! Hopefully getting a replacement soon!

Another updateee!

Got my MOT coming up on wednesday so spent the morning of today replacing my rear shoes and giving the rear brakes a clean up, all of the pads were glazed. If anyone wants some if they are desperate for some, all you need to do is de-glaze them and they'll work fine!

They definitely still need to bed in too, going to get two toyo tyres put on the back tomorrow too as they both are on the limit i would reckon!

Thats about it really, apart from that I'm going to start tackling the bodywork soon as its looks a bit sorry for its self! I would upload a pic of the car being worked on but its nothing really special haha!

Went round my friend Jordans the other day, lovely summer weather thought we'd wash the cars.. bit of a polo fest! Mk2, Mk3 and the cheeky mk4 behind me! He's only just got his 1989 mk2 coupe S to which needed a clean and also needs a T-cut when he can be bothered user name on here is 'harrisbo'

I know the emissions are going to fail as they failed on the college emissions tester that is used in MOT stations anyway.

Quick question though,

Will my car get advisorys or will it fail for having:

Split CV Boot

and compressed top caps?

Got some advisories I'm pretty sure but i don't know the list as Dad needs to bring it from the testing station tonight.

Failed on emissions - should be 0.2 and mine came out as 2.9 .

And both CV boots split

Its got a basically open pancake airfilter on it haha. The test station was in swanton morley too! :L

Righhtt a fairly decent update unlike my others haha!

Got a brand new downpipe/cat last night along with the two CV boots, gaskets, brake pipe connectors and some bolts for the downpipe. Which loooks like this:

Thats what today will consist of! Also hoping to take out the centre box in the exhaust and replace it will a straight through piece of pipe!

Ill get some pictures of my progress later as i haven't begun yet haha!

Hopefully it will get completed either today or tomorrow and get the car back to the MOT station Monday! Fed up of walking already :(.

Also i mentioned a couple of posts up that i replaced my brake shoes and a general clean up of the drums etc!

Only picture i've got from it but you get the drift its nothing special as you can see!

I'll also get a picture of the headunit I'm running later too due to mine being nicked - yet again nothing spectacular but it will do until i get another one!

Weekend update!

Right, the weekend has been spent by replacing two CV boots and a downpipe and cat as mentioned.

Not going to dribble on haha so ill just post pictures! :)

Work began!

We then spent most of the day tackling the broken stud in the exhaust manifold and taking off the the downpipe etc and fabricating the middle box from where it has a reasonable hole in it!

The old cat - she done well haha!

Once we had the downpipe off we started on the exhaust stud which looked like this:

Cant really see it too well! Its the bottom left stud! Through the process we melted a drill piece this was with cooling to the drilling too haha!

Drilling from underneath the car just wasnt working so we took the manifold off which saved a hell of a lot of time!

Once he had completed all that we refitted everything replacing the studs in the manifold/downpipe connection with bolts, the manifold bolts were replaced with copper ones.

No pictures of these.. then we came across a problem, where we had fabricated the exhaust hangers to hold onto the spare wheel floor has broken through, so upto B&Q we went, and bought 4 square plates! Worked a treat and the exhaust is now sitting perfectly maybe a minor adjustment but I'm really not fussed!

And the finished product on the car haha nothing special! But i've got to say it sits alot higher than the old one, meaning that i will hit the chassis before the cat on violent speed bumps instead of the cat then the chassis like before :).

No pictures of the replacement on the cv boots as everyones seen all that before to be fair haha!

But they're all complete, and the brake pipe that was corroded it was only surface rust so we rubbed the pipe down wiped off the dust and placed some grease over and around it to stop the rust from coming back! All goooooood!

So hopefully it will pass its MOT tomorrow if not i will be very raged haha, it was running on 3 cylinders earlier in the day which seemed weird took out the plugs and could do with replacing so they'll be replaced before the MOT tomorrow morning!

Thats about it haha, going to wash the car tomorrow too as its grubby as hell!

Car passed its MOT!

The new downpipe and cat halved the emissions! Got new plugs to go in too tomorrow!

Got home only to find out i've got a petrol leak too! Gahhh problem after problem so got a new fuel filter to fit at college along with the plugs too i should think!

But pleased the car is MOT'd and driveable!

Soooo i fixed my fuel filter fail from the other week, found the filter had a sort of pin prick in the top of it causing it to spaff fuel where it pleased .

Fitted that, then gave the car its weekly wash and polish! And gave the wheels some loving and they came up beautifully! Have got a pic but tis not the greatest so ill upload when i can be bothered!

Probably going to tackle some bodywork in the summer sun today or something related with the car be a shame to waste the day!

Slow progress with the car really, just spending time on the bodywork and in the process of talking to a BMW Repair centre my Dad used to work for to see how much it would cost to blow a couple of coats of paint over as my paintwork isnt the best!

Today will be spent working on the rust bubbles and whatnot and washing and polishing :)

How long you in cast for?

Not really an update yet! But will be purchasing 165/55's in the coming week along with spacers for the rear and spigot rings all around. And hopefully more lows! :)nothing much else to say really, cars clean etcc

Soooo i have 2 low pro's (165/55)currently sitting outside one being a part worn nankang and the other being a pirelli 700-x i found at work brand new! And tomorrow I'm going to get them fitted at college and purchase two goodyears for the front , also got another sony CDX GT300 headunit coming as i really liked how it sat in mine before, before mine got nicked! :@.

On the look out for a single wiper conversion and a splitterrrr.. ideas on where i could find a wiper conversion and what sort of splitter i should aim for? Lows and spacers maybee depends on how the car sits tomorrow

Noopeeeee, there are holes if you remove the 'banana' strip at the rear arch though.

Recently painted my bumpers satin black again, and went over the whole car yesterday giving it a dam good clean and looks so nice clean, just a shame the paintwork isnt upto scratch :(, recently got paid so looking into a Renault clio splitter, and also maybe smoothing off the front bumper recess too? Going to invest in some 10mm rear spacers tonight or sometime during the week and ordering my parts for my engine rebuild too!

EDIT: Forgot to mention i finally have a new door and stereo too! Got a replacement secondhand door off Jon (Iscariot) on here, many thanks, and also a Sony stereo like my old one because it suited the car so well in my opinion!

Sooo i haven't updated in a while i guess haha!

Finally got some 10mm spacers on the rear, matching tyres so i have vague poke all around!

i have a stanless steel front strut brace i got given for free which ill get round to fitting soon!

Also been to a scrapyard recently and bought myself a 1.6 mk4 plastic engine cover, plan is to smooth off the 1.6 badge and leave the VW in place. Also nabbed the rocker cover aswell and in the process of polishing that up to! Got some chrome trim around the bumper recess to, anddddd removed the majority of my stupid stickers!!

Another purchase was also some new front speakers, but sadly they're slightly too big, so going to modify the original dash holes for the speakers to fit! I will get some pictures either tonight or sometime during the week!

So my plans are to sort the bodywork out slightly, delete the centre section of my exhaust, fit my strut brace, move the header tank down (strut brace fouls it) fit the front speakers, wash & polish & hoover, repaint my driver door to match the car uhhh that's about it for now haha!
