Cheers jon. I think I'll be spraying with celly in future! Really dont have the money to invest in all the safety precautions required to make that safe. A mask I may get, but the neccesity of a booth seems to great, and I can't afford that! Even with the repeated discussions with my local body shop and supplier, these hazards have never really been made clear

Its preety much general knowledge its HIGHLY dangerous mate. celly it or squeeze you nose  I dont smoke but the amount of 2k and welding gas/metal dust I've inhailed from a poorly ventelated garage i may aswell be a smoker instead.

Obviously not, as I didn't know. I spoke to my supplier at length about it, and although he said it can be dangerous, he didn't say I shouldn't use it. Plus when I worked in the body shop, the old boy only ever used a respirator. Never an air fed mask. Not saying its not dangerous, but if i had known it was that bad, I would maybe have avoided it. And the associated symptoms are not quite like smoking. Reading up it does tend to say that repeated exposure is the most dangerous. I have sprayed 3 maybe 4 times with it over the space of 18 months. Not suggesting anyone do this, but I don't think I'll come to a lot of harm. It also wasn't done in a totally enclosed area and only on small pieces. As said, better safety or avoidance in future.

yes, 9n Harris. Unless I put a few shifts in this week after work. But after 2 weeks off work, there's likely to be a back log (that I should have sorted whilst off work!). Also need all my bits to come so i can finish the wheels

Good weather (still) over the last few weeks means I've gotten the boards on the roof now. This will in time be covered in corrugated steel but for now it's reasonably water proof until I can get hol

I'll be storin my spare wheel an stuff in your 9n if you go haha.

And leave it out about the mask and that kids, I know your looking out for him etc but yeah, he's aware of dangers & took the risk, which I know loads of people do regularly and have no issues.

There's plenty of other shit in the world bad for you, spraying every day without proper gear may not be a good idea, but fuxk it id paint my bay with a shitty mask on :)

Everything can kill you or give you cancer these days

Who gives a fuck, standing next to my exhaust at idle is probably worse for you than spraying without an air fed mask

No, I'm not a smoker. I'm just saying the results are different. Smoking = cancer (amongst others) 2k = asthma. And I'm not saying that its safe to do so, hence I won't be spraying with 2k again. I do appreciate your input, but as i said, even people in the trade haven't warned me of the dangers, so its not that obvious (maybe I live in a void of information!). I will certainly be taking better precautions in future, I think we're agreed on that.

You welcome to store the wheel in the 9n harris, so long as i can come up the strip in its place

You can come down the strip, and be unimpressed and bored no problems, just not every run :)

Simon your a big gay lettuce!!

I only built my new engine so I could race you, I'm not going to springfest npw, pointless!

Well I've had around 10 parcels bringing various goodies that should bring this project to completion (well, first stage!) including stainless hose clips, an alloy bung to mount my temp switch in (watch this space), some 5.1 DOT brake fluid, new boot badges, various grades of paper or the DA sander to finish the wheels etc. Also had both wings repaired due to a small hole in one and a dent in the other. These need spraying now, which will mean they show up like a sore thumb against the old paint!. Hey ho. Anyhow, this should all allow me to take her for a test drive, if only down the road this weekend. Still need the exhaust finishing off, but Welder Dodge is a busy man!

so lame man, just get it running and bring it! do the rest next weekend!!

I can't. No MOT or tax. I have considered a trailer, but I can't really be arsed to tow it to the POD just to look at it! It's my own fault for procrastinating. So much this year, as well as the aforementioed problem of not having it at home anymore, so can't make the most of these lighter nights. Annoying thing is is that it is almost ready, literally could be done sunday evening :-(

someone needs to crack the whip and get you down there working on it NOW! lol

  • Author

Discussing this now, I'm actually pretty pissed I have been dicking about so long. You live and learn!

Can we get this done tonight ready for MOT tomorrow?

tyres collected today so should be with you tomorrow or monday dood.

mum said you can go collect the parts from her house any time on sunday

Don't waste your breath babe he's not worth it!

Don't waste your breath babe he's not worth it!

but if we motivate him enugh, theres no reason it cant get there on sunday!

Joking aside, Simon do u wanna go down strip in my car?? If not I'll take passenger seat out haha

  • Author

Right, you boys have inspired me to come across and work on the car. However, after trying to bleed the brakes for an hour, it turns out I have a leak in the system. Piss flaps!

Anyway, Harris get that passenger seat out, you need all the help you can get
