Good weather (still) over the last few weeks means I've gotten the boards on the roof now. This will in time be covered in corrugated steel but for now it's reasonably water proof until I can get hol

Right, found another leak in the brakes, However both are now fixed. Just needed to tighten the bolts anther fraction of a turn. Got half the interior back in, then it rained so I had to chuck the rest in, literally! Did crack out the DA and 10 grades of wet and dry to start on the wheels. The small amount I've done looks peng, so I'm hopeful that this will come out well. Prepped the wings for paint, but again it rained, so they are now in primer and soaking up water. Grrr.

Looking forward to seeing some of you tomorrow. Save the piss taking for leaving this at home. It will be worth the wait when she rolls into the Polo Show

i have to say simon, after seeing harris's 8v yesterday, this thing is going to fooken fly!

You may need nick to set them up though

and his gearbox!

Simon I didn't see you yesterday.

Which maybe a good thing becaus I'd have given you so much shit.

Anyway, this loon is gonna be rapid! Be a torquey slut with the GT cam too.

What box you running?

dont run an 8p..

off the line = awesome, and then your hit by the ever lasting third gear

Be different in his mate, worth a try!

Yeah, I asked where you were harris, but everyone ignored the question. I assumed Eric had you in his boot with a fist sized hole in your arse

I have the standard 1.6 gearbox on mine, and the GT cam should open up the top end a little over the standard cam, but not compared to yours harris. It was nice to see the 8v putting it to the 16s, so I'm looking forward to a bit of action at, well, Action. I have an 8v for when the 6n box inevitably shats itself :-(

come on the 20th of may!

Haha gutted didn't meet you tbh mate!

I think on a good day and a couple of tweaks I could get in the 15's, just. Head wind didn't help yday :p

What's the full spec of your engine?

The 1.6 box was fun in mine, what tyre size you gonna be running? Mine was stupidly long haha was fun! Like 75-80 in SECOND

Engine spec:

Fully Rebuilt

GT Cam

Mildly polished ports (casting burrs removed)

4-2-1

2" Exhaust

Bike carbs with relatively long runners and long trumpets

1.6 Box

The suspension and subframe may also have an effect on launch. Wheels are 14 x 6 with 175/50 front, 185/50 rear

Ok what have you timed the cam up to? Figures wise?

Did you have head skimmed to alter compression or you just going for 9.5:1?

How have you got the carbs set at the minute?

Jets/needle heights/air screws? Also what's your base timing set to? Vac advanced or not?

The 1.6 box maybe suited to yours as lighter, smaller circumference and lighter car

Its only set up to idle atm. The inlet needs blending as due to the angle of the outer runners, there's a step. Not even thinking of tuning until everything else is cush.

The 1.6 box was chosen on mikeys recomendation for driveability. The car was originally concieved as a daily to take over from the old bready, which is reflected by the chosen modifications, suspension and running gear. This is unnecesarry now since i have the 9n. However, there will be a perfromance version next year or so, when i have all required parts

The 8p box, is that from the GT?

Awww, right. I have a couple of 085s if the 6n box is no good.

I think the 1.6 box maybe ok mate, I'm not even sure mines better with the shorter one yet, its hard to tell, i need to drive it with no hearing and just feel it, noise makes it seem so different haha.

if you want some help when its on the road ill help you fiddle with carbs though (Y)

Top man, thanks a lot. I was going to take it to Southam to get set up as Markcrox knows a gaff up there that apparently are pretty good. But if your handy with them, I may be calling you up.

I'm not sure how the ratios compare with the 1.6 box and the other 085s/GTs/8ps although i like the idea of a tall 5th for cruising/economy. Just going to go with it for now and see how it goes.

Mine wasnt at all bad on the 1.6 box, id imagine with a not so wild cam and a ligher car it be reet. I took mine to southam...then undid all their hard work hahaha
