Good weather (still) over the last few weeks means I've gotten the boards on the roof now. This will in time be covered in corrugated steel but for now it's reasonably water proof until I can get hol

Job for tomorrow. Providing the weather holds

fair enough mate! wish i lived closer id come and have a butchers! keep us updated :) not long till poloshow!

Fuel pumps working again! Though I'm not sure why :? Had all the pipes off, checked for blockages, cleaned fuel filter etc. etc. but it just started working.

Found a huge puddle of water in the rear passenger footwell, which wasn't good. Can't seem to find the source. Which is another concern

probably had a dodgy earth mate, had the same problem when i relocated mine to the scuttle tray!

have you got a sunroof? if you have id investigate that first.

  • Author

Wasn't an earth as it was ticking, just not drawing

No sunroof. Window may have been slightly open which would have let enough water in over the time

oh right fair enough! yeah check behind the doorcards then

Not a massively productive day today. Attempted the head light adjustors, pretty much done. Also put in new bulbs all round. Having a nightmare with the rear fogs though, there is no power getting to them. I think the switch is shagged. As is the relay for the indicators. Water is still getting in, despite me plugging the holes and covering the scuttle over. Other than that, not alot else :-(

  • Author

Dribbling down the firewall. Both drains at the end of the scuttle are unblocked too

This is so unlikely to be at polo show now :-( where did all the time go?

The exhaust doesn't fit, the engine won't run despite the fuel pump being fine. I'm still not sure on the brakes either. I'm going to try my best but I'm not holding out too much hope :-(

Why won't the engine run right?

  • Author

Exhaust is not a 'loon item, but a coupe/bready one so has been customised and needs a small S-bend putting in so it can tuck up nice and tight as well as making it long enough. My man Dodge tacked up an S piece, but its not quite right. He's so busy atm, that he can't just fix it, and the car obviously can't be taken to him in its current state, so its a bit back and forth. A tiny job really, but a logistical problem.

Engine won't fire now. Not sure why. Have checked HTs to make sure all are in correct place etc.Probably should check for a spark.

Brakes just need bleeding, but since I can't get the interior back in, because every week more water gets in, no one wants to sit in and bleed them with me  I'm still not sure if the hand brake will work, although I think they are going to be fine as I had the calipers apart the other day and one was jammed. Not jammed any more!

Then there's the 'leccy problems still from last week. Although I have a different relay and fog switch, as well as a bunch of fuses from the coupe if all goes to shit.

I know I'm being a little bitch about it, but I'm having a Kiz moment. This car is just fighting me all the way, and its not going to be the standard I want either, so I don't feel much motivation to get it done as its going to look a little half arsed effort, despite the work thats been put in. I'm busy this weekend too, and the weather is looking gash for the next week, possibly ruling out post-work sessions, so time's tight

I'm having a Kiz moment.

Happens in every good home built.

Everyone I go up, I come back with more jobs to do than before.

You MUST keep at it though, i feel the same way totally, however i now have pretty much no where to put the car as the place its at now is no longer suitable.

Just plow through everything and you'll soon get it done, drive it for a bit, and then start sorting everything you feel needs attention.

Are you coming to poloshow even if this is not ready by the way?

Everyone I go up, I come back with more jobs to do than before.

Every time i come on here i buy/read more things to replace "Whilst I'm there" thats why my job lists get longer haha

I'm going to finish it, there's no doubt about it, its just disheartening when progress is so slow. Literally all last saturday trying to sort of lights. That was it! It's not as bad now as at least I have evrything I need, but its now alll the niggly problems that I've bunned off over the last few years!

But I'll be at polo show whatever. Didn't see many people at springfest and I want to check some of the builds that I've been watching

Great, friday to sunday?

I feel the same way dude, just keep on it and don't think about it.

  • Author

Just the saturday, I have plans over the weekend. Likely to be spending friday night trying to get the car running!

This car is just fighting me all the way, and its not going to be the standard I want either, so I don't feel much motivation to get it done as its going to look a little half arsed effort, despite the work thats been put in.

I know exactly how you feel.

My saloon is there now, just need to insure it, MOT it, tax it and go play. There's still things that need attention that I'm not exactly happy with and the DVLA are dragging their heels over an engine number change so I have no V5c to tax it with either.

I just hope that I like it when it's all done and I get to drive it properly.... :?

This still will not run. I found that the white/purple wire had actually melted and was shorting out a few circuits. Any way I've sacked this wire off and done as gaz suggested months ago, and replaced the white/purple wire with the black wire from the coil at the fuse box/bulkhead connector. The white/purple was connected at plug 6 and the black was at plug 1. Now the black wire is at plug 6, with plug one being empty and the w/p wire has gone. Is this right? It still won't fire though.

is your loon an early model? the white/purple wire going to the coil on mine is the resistor wire, takes the voltage to the coil down to 9 volts iirc?

your using later electronic ignition right? in which case you need to take the whole white/purple wire out and replace it with a normal wire in the same place

  • Author

Done that. I'm thinking it may be the dizzy now as I had to replace this. I have a spare, so I'll try that to at least rule it out

ah right okay.

i had a problem with my dizzy which stopped it from firing too. hmm.. have you changed anything since running it?
