Nope, nothing changed which I why I need to swap the dizzies over. I've totally removed the white/purple wire and swapped the black one in instead.

Good weather (still) over the last few weeks means I've gotten the boards on the roof now. This will in time be covered in corrugated steel but for now it's reasonably water proof until I can get hol

Garage all painted (I'll get pics) and the car is moving in on Sunday. I may even get to work on it over the summer ;-/

Even without that wire it should still fire, but then cut out straight away

I found my spare dizzy so whipped the other one off to find I'd shagged the locating peg like I had on the last one. Spaz! I tried the other one, but the battery was dead, so I'll have to charge it tomorrow and have another go. I'm a clumsy cnut

did you get the batt charged buddy? i really want this to make poloshow!

Found the problem. When I'd taken the dizzy apart to paint it, a small plate from inside must have dropped ino the mech, jammed and then the locating peg had sheared off. Since I've painted two dizzies, I've killed two! Lucky I kept a spare! It even sheared the key off from inside the rotor arm! So where in business again! Kind of

Lots of little jobs to do. Was going to bleed brakes, but I'm on my own :-(

if i was closer id come and help mate! must be doable on your own surely?

  • Author

Bleeding brakes? Not with the kit I have. Got a few other jobs to do anyway

Simon don't get rushing things and compromising mate, aim for action? :)

  • Author

They'll be no compromises. I'm aiming for nothing, just asap! No action for me though, I should be at Reading Festival

just get it driveable, bwaaaarp down to an exhaust place, and get them to sort it!

this CAN be done in time mate!

Cash at the weekend is fine 'arris

Eric, thats an option. But an illegal one! I can't drive it anywhere except an MOT place. It's unlikely to pass an MOT with no backbox!

oh shit  didnt think of that! lol

hmm. do you have a welder??

an alternative is just to measure it up, then take it to a garage iin the back of the beasty 9n lol

or do what id do, find some pipe, and get some joiners from a random garage, and wack it on. it may blow a little, but atleast its on and you could always chuck some paste around it

I conceded defeat for my car being at Polo show a while ago, the way i see it the more i do and the better standard the more likely it can be at Polo Shows for years to come with no issues leading up. Don't bodge loads of jobs now.

Same for me Simon why rush , ill see you at VW action ;) , with your very slightly higher compression engine :p

Push it there? Yeah don't rush it, you'll be pissed off with it.

Hurry the fuck up though!

  • Author

Its not being rushed as such. I'll be happy with it if i can just get these last few jobs done. Pissed off with the body work though, but thats a job that needs to wait until next year anyhow.

Cheers though guys, I'm working hard this week to get as much done as possible

She lives again! Didn't tighten rocker though, so oil everywhere :-( meh, won't take long to clean up.

Still having bare shit with the fog lights. There is a big thread running in the electrical sub forum (not started by me, but I have added to) about this. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated

Brakes are bled. Feel pretty odd, but I'm now used to modern brakes! On a plus though, I don't seem to have to push through the bulkhead to get max effect. Obviously need to try them on the road first.
