Any luck then simon? Where's the pump going?

It will stay there for testing whilst I redo the fuel lines. Once I have it working, I'll probably move it to the battery tray again, or I may look out for the fuel pump bracket from a MK3. I want to leave it there so I know it's not out of its operating range. But as soon as I have eliminated the other potential problems to fuelling and got it running, it'll be moved. Its not like the car's being driven atm, so it's not posing a hazard just yet.

Will be on this again at the weekend. Getting back from owrk too late atm and its obviously dark earlier now.

Got some goodies waiting to go on post-respray to make her look even more brand new. On the look out for some 'spankers gutter trims. I know genesisGT had a set, but he's gone quiet on me

Cool. Yeah keep it there for as long as you need, then move it somewhere abit safer when required.

If your wanting it hidden, have you thought about running it inside the cabin?

Well she's definately running out of fuel, after it cuts out, the float bowls are empty! I've changed the fuel lines around but no joy. I'm thinking the pilot jets may be overfuelling as there's so much smoke out the back and the plugs are jet black too.

Tried that. Just re-routing all of the pipes now. Going to get one new jets too

Have re-plumbed the system, making the carb feed the easiest route for the fuel. Got a much shorter t-to-carb pipe and, for what good it will do, an 'up hill' route for the return. Flow to carbs seems nice and fast too

Hmm, still not quite right, now there's fuel coming out of the breather pipes. See the engine FAQ about fuelling for more details

Simon can you not get another set of carbs and try them just to see if these carbs are the problem just a suggestion mate as i really do want you to get this sorted

I guess I could, but it's not something I really want to spend money on atm. May come to that if I can't get it sorted this weekend, unless something pops up in the mean time. No point having a car sat there not running if its a simple fix. It has to be the carbs as whenever I fiddle with them, something changes, but not always for the good!

Fuck it, bought some new carbs! Lets see if this sorts the problem!

Just get it back on the road and use it. i regret bringing mine off the road so soon after engine conversion. was stupid.

Carbs on and she's running very well. Lovely smooth idle, revs up and down freely. No blocked air jets throwing fuel back out either. Carbs were pretty dirty before though, so even these needed a good clean.

Was a little touch and go for a while as it turns out these are 36mm whilst the old ones were 34. Luckily the carb rubbers have a bit if flexibility and they've stretched over. Also luckily. the carb middles are the same as the 36s and the current manifold still fits. Can't seem to find away to alter the carb balance on car though, there's so little space!

Thats why i have a stupidly long manifold :) haha

Nice one Si! I found the right screwdriver and hacksawed most of the handle off! That made me a tool that was perfect!
