No progress, work Think I might MOT friday to get a job sheet for the weekend and retest monday. But I know what it's likely to fail on (blowing exhaust) so may as well just do it at the weekend and test monday. Depends whether I get the time. Busy in the evenings atm due to too many staff dos (2 already, 2 more to go :-s )

And nick, I'm making progress. Waiting on a front panel to arrive to replace mine and a few other cosmetic jobs. I need some smaller jets too. Tested emissions the other day and they're through the roof!

Static emissions will be different to how it's driving though man.

Mine can be spot on at 2k driving, 2k revving freely is another story!

Tools: hacksaw, big hammer, chisel. Just used the hacksaw to chop as much of the front before using the chisel to break/split the spots. Then used a hammer to straightened bits again, basically neatened it a bit. Will use bolts and strong sealant to fit it again.

What jetting do you have mate?

I'd get it run in and put a couple of hundred miles on it

160. Current rate, tank would last about 60 miles. Going to play around with jets and get it better

Something must be blocked, unless you've got dead rich needles or emulsion tubes

The emulsion tubes I took from the other carbs I had as they were brand new. Needles could be rich as the carbs were ex-race. Some air holes are blanked off on the outer two aswell

The far left ones. Only on cylinder 1+4, little copper plug type thing. Not sure whether its a reducer, or a full cap

I've noiced that my star rating for this has dropped, which must mean updates have been unsatisfactory. I'll attempt to remedy that in the coming weeks

So I'm aiming for a deadline of UD this year, hope it's going to be possible, but will depend on a certain number of factors outwith my control namely the weather! I started on the (thankfully small amount) of rust today. Although a little cold, it has been dry, which is the main concern atm. I have access to a heated double garage sometime in February (hopefully this will coincide with half term, which thankfully is sooner rather than later) so it's important the weather stays dry for the next few weeks! Enough with the guff, and I'll embelish with some pictures.

The offending areas of rust on the passenger side (only had time to do one side at a time). There's ery little deep rust, only two patched both at the front of the rear wheel arches. Although these should be cut out and new metal welded in, I don't have the time to get this done now. I'll likely get it done later in the year if I get the arches rolled, or next winter when she's off the road. Not perfect I know, mixing and matching paint appointments, but it's so low on the sill, it's barely noticeable as it is.

Worst bit on this side

Rear of the passenger rear arch. Hardly any deep rust here, and the pitting was shallow too. Most of this turned out to be mud dust too!

Weapons of choice

And after a good going over with the wire wheels. Made sure to take it back well beyond the rust patch. It's amazing how far the rust spreads from the initial bit, and still not bubble through the paint

Very little rust on the sills, and what there was was surface only

The worst part, after Kurust. Looks worse than it is here. Although as said above, this will eventually need chopping out

And the rest

Weather was so cold I had to resort to this to make sure the Kurust had 'gone off'!

Then I attempted to skim the pitted areas with filler. Again, it was so cold I had a nightmare working the putty. Again used the hair dryer to soften it but as soon as the hardener was added it cooled down. Using the hair dryer here would then have made the filler go hard too early. Putting onto cold metal made the situation worse still! Eventually got a thin skim over it but the filler was so hard to work due to the cold, but then wouldn't go off. Out came the dryer again! No pictures, as it was getting dark!

Once I'd got a fairly good finish and treated it to a rub with some wet and dry, I masked it up ready for a think coat of stonechip. The car originally had some here (or at least some had been added) so I thought it best to replicate it. Also I'm sure it's that treatment that has kept the metal so good for so long

I painted on a thin coat with a brush and attempted a stiple effect. It was too dark then so I shall wait to see the results of this

Anyway, thats it for now. I'll finish this side off and start on the other next week, providing the weather is kind. The more eagle eyed of you may have noticed the drive looks different to before aswell

Good to make some. Which isn't to say none was made over Xmas. In fact muchos was made then. Just sick of looking at her sorry blue ass. She needs tarting up so I can whore her about some more!
