I am yes. I didnt really go down the tuned route with this, though wishing I had now. Guess thats what happens when you take two years to build an engine! The aea has a higher cr than the aee as standard though, which is interesting

Well it seems i was sold a 24V fuel pump ages ago, so need to get a 12V item. However I did have here turning over on the starter yesterday (with that mysterious black wire above disconnected ). Bit of a problem though in that after only a few cranks the battery is drained. Currently I only have the the engine mount to chassis earth strap and the main strap to the battery connected. I dont have the gearbox mount chassis connected (think I smoothed the hole!). Would this cause this problem? Its very similar to the problem I had with the white car. Could this black wire being disconnected be a problem?

sounds like a shagged battery tbh.. lol have you tried it fully charged?

tbh, i ran without the main earth for the engine.. all the way to Germany and back

Hmmmm, the battery has been fully charged, and it always worked well in the summer, which may indicate the problem. I'll try a different battery and see what the crack is there

Door cards won't be staying standard, just waiting for a set to retrim. All the furniture will be of course. Need to stay focussed on this now as it has to be done before the show season so that i can make the most of it this summer. Wont be insured until march/april as it will be a summer car. This isnt helped by the fact i have a new project lined up with subframe, all round discs, suspension and most of turbo engine collected already! That one will be a quick turn around

Kerrly, I havn't quite sorted this out yet. I have made the adaptors etc. like in the faq that modify the mk2 handbrakes to fit the rear discs. However, I have an early 'loon with the gammy hand brake cable (all one piece along the back). Therefore I'm going to have to make a hybrid of the late, two piece rear cables and the early front cable. I think i have it sorted, but need to jimmy it all up. Its these little niggles that are holding me back.

I'm heading towards the same issue. I don't want to do what narrowlane did and swap handbrake tunnel's.

for my rear discs i welded in bosses on the tunnel for a bolt in handbrake and re routed my cables and put a cable stop in but thats where the original fuel tank goes under the seats andthen i just used mk2 golf gti cables and modified the handbrake to pull two cables at once. probably doesnt help you much but there maybe some ideas in my build thread if i put it all in there lol

Sounds good Pete, but i dont want to dick about with that if there's an easier issue. I'll keep this updated kerrly. The advantage and only reason I think it will work is because the adjustment on the far end (exhaust end) of the cable is so long.

They're not for a remote servo polomon, they are to mount the reservoirs remotelty. On the MK2, since there is no servo, the reservoir for the 22.5 MC i have doesnt fit into the little concave bit the original one does. That meant I need to have a remote reservoir(s) and mount them else where, running brake flexi to the MC via these beauties

Max, they weren't cheap - £35. I left the designs at the workshop too. May pop by to see if they still have them, as I will need another set made up later
