Summary:

I am very regrettably selling my pride and joy. This add is for a tastefully modified 1999 VW Polo 1.4 16V 6N. Not only is it the top of the range model that comes with the sought after 100Bhp AFH engine, but it has been very well looked after, and definitely the best example I have had the joy to own. If I didn’t need to raise the money for a trip to Australia, I would definitely be keeping her without a shadow of doubt.

Mechanically the car is very strong. Recently I have spent a small fortune at Volkswagen getting the engine tip top as it developed an idling issue (meaning the engine would hunt for revs), and as I love the car I wanted to get it sorted properly and had the work done at Volkswagen. The only remaining issue with the engine is slightly noisy tappets when the engine is cold, but this is a very common problem and quietens down after a minute or so.The car is fitted with a Stainless Steel Exhaust Back Box that isn't as loud as most, but I imagine could become annoying for some. I had it fitted because my friend had it spare from a car that he broke and gave it to me as the previous standard exhaust needed replacing. I never bothered replacing it as it looks very nice and adds to the 'back end view' of the car.

Externally the car again is very structurally sound. From extensive observations, I could say that the car has not been in any accidents as there is no sign of any heavy dents anywhere, nor are there any uneven panel gaps (please do check for yourself if you have any doubts). The car is painted in VW Magic Black and is absolutely beautiful when polished with Autoglyms’ HD Wax as the metallic pigment in the paint catches the sun amazingly even in low light levels. As the car is over 11 years old, I have tried to make it appear more modern by fitting 'Aero Wiper Blades' to the windscreen wiper arms, but the age shows in other ways. There is the odd dent here and there and a few stone chip touch ups, but as I said earlier, it is the best example of the Polo 6N that I have owned. The ATS Cup Alloy Wheels (as seen on the car in the pictures) are not included in the auction. The car will be sold with the original VW Polo Alloy Wheels (as seen pictured separately) complete with centre caps and good tyres with plenty of tread. I will include the set of locking wheel nuts that are currently on the car securing the ATS Cups.

There is very little rust on the car considering its age. However there are one or two spots of rust (not pictured as very minimal and not able to be picked up by the camera) that have been treated, but depending upon how particular you are you may want to get these sorted. Surprisingly the wheel arches are solid and fine, as it is common for the wheel arches to be heavily rusted through. The Tailgate bears the worst of the rust under the piece of glass, but do not worry, I will try and replace the whole tailgate with another one of the same paint code before the end of auction as this can be done very cheaply and easily. If I am unable to do this, I will offer the winning bidder a £75.00 cash refund so that they can sort it themselves and pocket the change. It really is an easy, easy fix and I will explain to the winning bidder how to carry out this repair.

The car sits very low but this can be easily changed by yourself (with 'C' Spanner that will be included), any mechanic or tyre fitter as it is sitting on height adjustable coil-over suspension. The passenger side door handle has been swapped with a rear door handle from a 5 door model so that it is now de-locked to add extra security and to give the car a smoother look. The front bumper has been professionally filled, smoothed and sprayed for the Euro look with the addition of a front splitter. I almost forgot to mention that there are a couple of scraps to the passenger side of the front splitter (pictured) where the misses got a bit to close to the curb whilst parking on one or more occasions and bears a couple of small cracks with thanks to speed bumps.

The original front grill has been replaced with an after market badge less grill that helps add to the Euro Dub look that I have been aiming for. Obviously next to the grill are the lights and these too have been played with. High Intensity Discharge (HID) bulbs have been fitted. Although the light level and heat rating are within legal requirements, they are only single beam bulbs which means they don't have a 'Full beam' option. I have never bothered to get a duel beam kit as the dipped light provides very good viability, but unfortunately I don't think the car would pass the next MOT like this. I think you need a 'Full beam' option to pass an MOT. I will however remove the HID kit and replace the bulbs with standard H4 light bulbs if the winning bidder would like me too. The car is also fitted with Smoked Side Repeaters on the front wings and Hella (I think...) Smoked LED rear light clusters. These rear lights really do look lovely on the car and compliment the car nicely. Again, I am able to remove these and replace for standard 16V rear light clusters if the winning bidder would like me too.

Internally the car is near mint with the only issue being the drivers’ side window. There is an intermittent fault with it. Sometimes it works and at other times it won’t. my friends think it will just be a loose connection or some moisture in the connection but I wouldn’t know. I don’t know what happened to the original VW Head Unit as it wasn’t in the car when I bought it, but I will include my Sony Explode Mp3 Head Unit so that you have some tunes to listen to on your journey home. The car comes complete with spare 'Space Saver' and complete Fitting kit in the boot. It never did come with the 'First Aid Pack' but these can be brought from any retailer. The Parcel Shelf is complete and unmolested, meaning that there are no great big dirty holes cut out for speakers which also makes a nice change...

In terms of general up keep of the car, I tend to enjoy looking after the car myself. That way I know a good and thorough job is being carried out with the best of materials. The car has had nothing in the engine other than Castrol GTX since I have owned it. No dealer will replace the oil in your car with high quality oil like that. I have serviced the car 2 times since owning it (every 4,000 - 5,000 miles) performing a full engine flush a few days after I purchased the car. During the service I change the Oil, Oil Filter, Air Filter and I have changed the spark plugs. If you hadn't noticed I do enjoy getting my hands dirty and the pleasure of looking after the car. Ow yeah, I just thought I should add that I have found that Castrol GTX is cheapest from Morrisons Fuel Stations
