Right so as my MOT is tomorrow i set about fitting my G-Lederseite blocks today. So got the car up on some ramps and inspected the old bushes.

PS... The spacers where just a temporary fix until i got these blocks on, as it fouled my s/s manifold when i put that on last week.

So i set about taking them off, got the old mounts and crapped out bushes off, but then guess what...... it started CHUCKING IT DOWN with rain, great :/ so had to make a lil cover whilst i set about finishing it off.

After a lot of pushing and pulling and alining i finally got them up and on... and want to know what the harsh bit of this story was.. as soon as i finished, as soon as i tightened up that last bolt, the rain stops... :/

Really happy with them, made the car feel a lot tighter. Not only has it cleared my manifold but also realigned my wheel back into the center of the arch!! happy days. Trackings next on the list of things to do now...

The car did fail on its MOT due to brake lines, so its had a nice new set of copper brake lines fitted and passed for another 12months :)

I moved to London in the middle of june (just after the car got MOTed) for the summer period to stay with my Girlfriend. So i dont really have much of an update for you guys as i've left the car at my parents place. But just before i left my in-line fuel pump somehow got a hole in it and started pissing out fuel. I'm guessing the bracket wasn't on secure and the pump didn't have a rubber band round it, so it was rubbing against the rusty rack, which in return over a long time I'm guessing has caused it to rub through and create a small hole. I'm sure as most of you GT/G40 guys will know, the pump isn't cheap to buy brand new :( but luckily enough i was able to source one through this forum and got it posted to my address. Annoying really, as my pump always sounded good and strong.

My wheels still haven't come back from the shop yet, but he is doing it in his own time at a cheap price so i cant really complain too much, but would of liked them back before the car had its MOT but oh-well. Not quite sure if i explained whats going on with the wheels, but the 8J's ally cats where just too wide for the front of the polo, so i found a set of 7j ally cats but they where in ford fitment. After speaking to a friend who knows someone who can re-drill wheels, he agreed to take them down his workshop and see what he could do. Because the centre bore was massively oversized and the PCD bolt holes where extremely close to the centre bore, he couldn't just fill in the PCD holes and re-drill, so hes had to make up a centre piece with a centre bore of 57.1 (vw fitment) for the middle, and then weld up the holes and re-drill at 4x100.... I'm looking forward to them, as not only will i not have to run wobble bolts, but i wont have to run spigot rings either happy days. Only problem that I can foresee happening is that they might foul on the VW11 Calipers? I dont want to run spacers as that defeats the object of going down to 7J's as I wanted them to sit further in the arch. But on a plus side they might be the only set of ally cats at 4x100 with a VW fitment centre bore?

As I had to move out of my uni house back in Plymouth this weekend, I decided to take some holiday as well and come back to my parents house so I could do some more work on the car. Been ordering some bits and pieces for the car so when i got back there was some parcels for me As i mentioned in the essay above, the fuel pump sprung a leak on me, so was able to purchase another one for a decent price on this forum So set about cleaning it up and putting it on the car.

As it arrived, minus the tape on the ends:

Then whacked aload of underseal on it:

Then gave it some padding and put it on the car:

And happy days, runs with no leaking pump now

Mainly the reason for me buying some bits was because the car also failed on headlight beam because the headlights where over tinted.. I already had a spare set of headlights because i kinda knew that this would be the case. I never really liked the orange indicators tinted black either, so i bought some clear indicators. Trail fit to the car P.S yes i know that dent is really annoying! :( not done on my own accord might i add.

But it just didn't look right to me, knowing this would be the case I also bought some Fly Eye Film, as i've seen a few cars with them on and they claim to 100% passable on MOT's.

I also spent 3hours under the car trying to sort out my stupid exhaust. Blows at every joint, but now it only blows at one joint.. will sort that another day.

Yeah 14", quite nice wheels, just not a big fan of the finish of the ones i have. Might take them to the polishers and get them to smarten them up a little.

Right, my time up here in london is drawing closer and closer to the end, and then it'll be back to uni soon. But not before I go back to my parents and work on the car a little more Just ordered some pressed metal 'Uk Legal' plates to smarten it up a little, as i cant stand plastic plates. Also decided on buying some number plate surrounds to go with the new plates also :) So they're all in the post heading to my parents.

I've also bought a de-wedged throttle body, headlight switch, steering wheel plastic column surrounds, and some indicator bulb holders. As all of them on my car are a little dodgy and are either cracked/broken/faulty.

I'm still after a Polo GT radiator if anyone has one let me know :(

Just taxed the car again for September, so happy! haven't driven the car now for over 3months! sad times! but looking forward to getting back in it and taking it for a spin!

Anyways, a few pictures of when I was home before i washed it, looks a lil mucky.

It's to stop any side to side movement in the ARB.

Well I'm finally back at my parents and when i walked in i was welcomed by some nice parcels :)

Ordered some pressed metal plates and number plate surrounds. So after giving the car a good clean i set about fitting the plates :)

Also went to the breakers yard today, and picked up a momo steering boss and a 6N alloy rocker cover for £10 Just need the engine cover now :)

Cheers Jake yeah the mudflaps are a bit controversial, but they're not bothering me enough to take them off :)

As I went and got the alloy rocker cover, I wanted to get on and do the conversion. So went to the breakers yard again today and got the engine plastic covers for a good price :) So the challenge now was to sort out the oil breather pipe. So I popped down to my local car bits shop and had a lil chat to him about a product called 'quiksteel' which he recommended very highly, not to sure whether thats because hes a sales man, and just said that or if he actually meant it. Either way I decided to give it ago. So i drilled a hole in the flat surface of the rocker cover. I wanted it here because its hidden behind the engine plastics, but its also a hard place to do it, as the underside is covered in a shield that cant be removed.

And then cut a small piece of alloy pipe to fit on it. Kept the drill bit in there to keep it inline.

keyed all the edges and applied the 'quiksteel' product.

And the finished product:

Now time for the engine plastics. You have to take the brackets for the cover aswell else it has nothing to sit on. You then have to remove the screws holding in the dipstick and the engine hoist hoop:

And then fit the new brackets. One problem i did come across was that when the engine cover is on, it covers up the dipstick, but i'll make an adapter for that at a later date.

as in, take the headlights apart and spray the inside of the reflector edge black?.... if so nope. its just fly eyes.
