Harry's 6n Polo - 20VT Conversion & Smooth Bay

Featured Replies

Is that July next year? :p

yeah ill be fine just traded the mrs in for a better model this one came with more miles but a faster, stronger engine with smaller tyres oh and bigger airbags... ahha!!

yeah man well that was my plan all along, custom dash using Audi clocks keep it simple, no heater just a motorsport de-mister, caged, buckets etc...

Lol I wish, its about time we both finished these 8-) stressing me out spending every Saturday on it and just seems to drag out forever!

Hahaha sounds good man :p Take it easy, don't want her breaking down on you ;) lol..

Yeah that's a good idea, will see once its all done and how I get on with my comforts like having a dash etc lol.

Yeah it really is, best pull my finger out!

She should be alright I'm keeping the Oil topped up...more lubed up! ;)

Yeah 2 different ends of the scale, thats why i haven't gone for big wheels or anything. Simple but fast.

  • Slight update.....it is now fully MOT'd, taxed and insured as of Saturday morning. I've been driving it the past 2 days with no problems apart from the boost hose that clamps on the turbo likes to pop

  • Picked it up yesterday, It's an animal - Pics and videos to follow over the weekend

  • Yeah I'll be there haha

The wheels are bay needs a serious clean but that will be done once its finished :p

Next on the list is to get a new gear linkage as mine has a bent rod and wont go in 3rd or 5th and then also sort the clutch out because at the moment I only have half a clutch even once its bled.

Then it will be going off to be mapped :)

Amazing!

If i had a clue how to do anything with engines, this would probably be at the top of my list!

I'd love to keep my polo and have an engine like that in it

Wheels are going to look amazing too :)

Cheers Sean :) don't worry as soon as the car comes back from mapping it will be apart again for some more changes and that mount will be painted and probably even re-designed ;)

Thanks :D yeah the top of the rad has a bit of damage and bent fins but it shouldn't affect the cooling as the rest of the rad is fine.

Amazing Harry well done :)

Cheers man :)

Hi mate nice build, love the effort gone into this. Sorry if this has been asked, when you fitted the 6n2 dash you said you used the 6n mounts? Did you make a bracket, drill through the dash or did it just fit?

Craig

Just a quick question harry,

what sort of job is it to wire in the 1.8t loom into the polo,i see you have the late 6n model so it has the simple fusebox fitted,

is it just a case of splitting the engine wires from the 6n loom and add the 1.8t engine loom into the 6n fuse box plugs

Why an amazing polo :-o and what a read your build thread made!!!!

Quality!

dont give up harry! youve worked so hard and its just a little more to finish it!! Good seeing you last night

rims look well body colour . loving this thread . so much work but well worth it the car looks epic bud . Dave

wheels are looking good man :) whats the fitment on the rear ? :)

this is honestly b-e-a-u-tful, the colour is so nice, & the wheels

Cheers :) Yeah for the brackets on bulkhead I made up some 'Adaptor' brackets that go from the standard brackets to the dash and the brackets at the side of the dash I cut the old ones off and re-welded them in the right place so they match where the new dash is meant to sit :)

Its an absolute pain in the arse if i'm honest (But remember I have a 6n2 loom/dash not a 6n one) I spent countless hours doing this, following wiring diagrams, speaking to Rubjonny over on Edition on anything I was stuck on but somehow it works lol....Only thing I'm not too sure on now is the Permanent Live Feed from the battery needs to connect onto something inside the car like the fusebox but I cant find anything for it to connect onto so need to do some research on that...

Hi Jake :) i thought i recognized you Friday night but just couldn't put my finger on it - Sorry man!

I'm not sure anymore.....just a lot more money needs to be thrown at it to get it how I want it and I have lost love for it if I'm honest :( If a sensible offer came up for it then it would go unfortunately as I have my eye on something else but it would be good to finish it

rims look well body colour . loving this thread . so much work but well worth it the car looks epic bud . Dave

Cheers man! Rears are 8.5J and standard ET is 33 at 6.5J so I THINK that makes the new ET -5 ?? But not sure on that.....The arches are standard atm so will give them some work soon :)

this is honestly b-e-a-u-tful, the colour is so nice, & the wheels

Thanks much appreciated :)

hellll yeahhhhh!

pics, pics, pics! not much more to do :D

Lol not much more to do now BUT a LOT more money needs to be thrown at it :(

if you give this up harry, you will regret it....i miss my polo so much even though i have the A3 but id kill to have my old polo back again =( very jealous of this

Makes your wheels ET9 bro :) Sell it and i'ma slap you with the biggest wettest fish money can buy. :)
