Sweet man. We're about to do my bay and tuck it, but i personally am kind of confused as to how it tucks in and where everything goes! Have you got any info?

Haha same I have no idea how I'm going to do it yet, think I will just extend all of the loom so that I can run it through the chassis legs and then under the front black piece which the radiator sits in and then kind of extend each wire to where it has to go on the block. That's my idea at the moment but I don't know if I will end up doing it that way lol

With a stock box its possible to do without a notch on chassis leg. Mine hasn't. I'm sure you've got it covered but please make sure the area surrounding the notch it well reinforced as a 20v will put lots of stress on an intact chassis leg let along one thats been chopped about.

Hope the smoothing survives the extra stress and twisting forces the extra power will create.

Personally i'd get it all running properly before tucking the loom, just incase

As you say htere is no reason a stock OEM loom can't be tucked

After owning a converted 20vT polo with stock management / loom and aftermarket maganement / loom i can assure you, you're doing the right thing sticking with stock

Also, shallow sump is a good idea, steel bottom and about an inch shallower than a atandard alloy one, after going through two stock ones i'm glad i got a shallow one. PM me if you need a part no.

Yeah I'm not sure about a stock box because I'm running a diesel one. I got some plans to 'Smooth' some metal bar into the chassis legs which should hopefully strengthen it up....

I have got a shallow sump on the engine at the moment and you can definately tell the difference when I replaced it!

I think I might have to do what you say with the loom, get it running etc and then do the wire tuck and paint the bay because at least I will know where everything goes and all the wires can then be extended once I know it is wired up OK.

Spent today doing some more work on the engine mounts with the help of a very good mate

Gearbox mount - Grinded back so its flush and had to re-weld a few pin holes on it.

Pics of the engine lined up and with part of the front panel on to see how high it needed to sit so the bonnet would fit etc

The blue hoses will be going dw!

Drivers side mount - we decided to take a different route than originally planned and use the standard Audi A3 mount with some modifications, we cut out the part on the chassis the original mount sits on and then we will make some plates for the mount to sit on to make it sit lower.

Our original idea made the engine sit way too high!

We have welded Nuts onto the back of the bar which is attached to the mount below which is where the mount will sit.

More pics the part we had to cut out of the drivers side chassis mounting point.....

It looks like we have over-cut the hole but it's like than on purpose so the mounting points for that mount will sit flush into the holes :)

Spent pretty much all day saturday making the drivers side mount:

So after all of this we then tried to fit the engine and the mounts are perfect BUT the engine is too far back near the bulkhead and it needs to be about 1cm closer to the chassis leg because it needs the gearbox mounting is actually inside the notch :(

Suppose its all about Trial and Error :( Bring on Next Saturday and hopefully get it perfect lol.

Trial and error sucks with all this, especially when youve already smoother the bay, making some bits up for my mounts this week to get it done then getting some custom shit fabb'd up

Just make sure those welds are good and strong matey! I'd make sure EVERY bit of steel is clean as possible prior to the weld. Not trying to sound like a wet blanket, but remember how much power this thing has got-

I think your problem was the angle of your engine tbh, rather than the positioning, if you look at mine and other 20vt conversions, the inlet manifold (yes i know mines different) sits alot higher (tilted the engine back over)

That shows how much further back, higher and tilted my engine is.

I'm not trying to critise here...sorry if it comes across that way.

wouldnt it of made more sense to do all the metal work and fabricating BEFORE you started filling and smoothing the bay?
