My polo says red on the log book but it looks more like salmon or as some people have said " what have you bought a PINK car for" But the thing is I need a touch up stick or tin how do I find out the proper colour....

Its a 1997 polo 1.0 l

Get a photo up matey, its more than likely a flash red colour thats just faded badly, few hours with some good polish should see it red again!

no amount of polish will see that red :lol:

it looks like metallic red/pink forgot the name of it tho

your colour code should be in your service history booklet or a sticker under your boot carpet

I have the same colour! It's a metallic red but I've forgot the code, I'm respraying a 16v bumper to match the car in a day or two, if you havnt got the code by then I'll let you know

ring up your local vw and then ask to be transfred to parts, then say you are wanting your paint code, they ask for your number plate and then they tel you the code :D thats what i did

Seriously crayon red I cant find any info on for a touch up paint :( I can find info for Canyon red that looks very similar

haaaaaa no some one put crayon red and the only thing I could get close to that name was Canyon red when i put it in google... I just wanted your opinion does that look like the same colour to you????? :)

I've just got to get the thing running now :)

it not under the carpet, it on the inside of the boot, usually a white sticker....mines the same colour..i'll have a look if you want?

Where would i find this code exactly on my car in the boot where is it under the carpet liner???

open boot, and look on inside at the bottom, white sticker with paint code/ engine code etc

Its almost identical,but for being a bit more red and a bit less orange,to Fords metallic coral red. The early Mondeo was available in this,i had a 1.8 GLX in it.

Very nice motor, I must say, but darker than mine so I would guess mine might be canyon red I think? As when I put it into google images the cars on there are very similar to mine and there a couple on this site that are very similar .....

I got a Kamei sports grill now, not that you can see the front

Try to find the paint code, you would be suprised this colour varies alot, especially with fade etc. If yours is more pink polish it up with a buffer, should bring it straight back, this happened on my bonnet after I had both sides resprayed (looked quite funny actually) so whipped out some g6 and the buffer and hey presto, good as new
