good idea but this limits like myself and others who a have small post count and dont post much access to the forsale section for such bargins that may come up when needed

There's already a massive warning and guidelines at the top of the page. Also we made for sale sections members only before and got slated for it and called Nazis.

I don't think its a good idea to have a post limit etc. This could mean that they become a good trusted user and set-up for a much bigger scam etc.

The good thing is , is that people will now think twice before buying off someone with a small post count.

Members only in the for sale section however may do a better job, Maybe the mods could set up a activation letter to members? Meaning that they get a letter with a code that activates them as a member , this way the mods have an address linked to each member. That will surely stop a big amount of them bothering with the forum.

Like that idea mate, but i do also think that the for sale section should be members only and require the membership fee and an activation email with your entire details but it all depends on how far you can go with forum modifications?

Nah not an email, people have a bigger chance of lieing , but if its in the post, then it has gone to an email etc.

To get in the for sale section, you should have to pay £5 as well.

I know what you mean and if the mods getting slated by a few non members surely cant hurt can it they be the ones who are wanting to scam that call them nazis, they get to use the entire forum for gathering information about polos and to buy and sell things you must be a forum member, and if people want to pay 5pounds and have there addresses comfimed then thats up to them if they go scamming people because they will be found!

as mentioned earlier bringing in stuff like that could mean that genuine sellers are put off going through the effort just to put some thing up for sale, leading to buyers missing out on bargains. also not every one likes posting on forums, one of my mates is a champion lurker on here (any many other forums), he has hardly any posts other than when he's sold some thing, posting just isn't his thing. why should him and people like him be victimised because some people don't pay any attention to the warnings?

And don't forget, the Mods do this in their spare time..

I know what your saying, but i don't agree with the post count thing, I just think they should have there account activated by a letter, meaning the mods having an address and name etc. Its a price that were going to have to pay guy, I think people would rather miss out on a bargain, then get fleeced £150 at a time like this near Christmas. People are not going to change, they will go through life doing things like this all the time. They probably read the guide saying "scammers!!!!!" but they just don't think it will happen to them.

Take on more mods, appoint the job to people or other mods.

Pretty easy to do. I put forward my services for such a job.

Plus, it isn't that hard to set up at all.

we can't go around wiping people's arse's their whole life max, people need to realise that the guides and warnings are there for their benefit. i agree with you in that people are always going to be trying to steal money off people, which is makes it all the more important that people listen to the warnings!

if there is a sign at the zoo next to the lions cage warning 'do not put your arm through the bar's' and some one reads it, then ignores it and puts their arm through the bars any way because 'they don't think it will happen to them' and it gets ripped off... who's fault is that?

but what harm is it setting up what I said? This obviously doesn't include Existing members , because mods aren't going to be able to send us all one, so we don't need to worry. But new members, they come on here, Sign up with whatever name they wish, and pay their £5 , this covers the price of the letter they receive though the post with there activation code, they sign in with the code/password and then the mods have some solid information to do with the account.

For example, your mate does not need to worry who is on here for the bargains, because this doesn't incorporate a post count. And people like him just have to pay a fiver, giving them full access to the bargains!

You cant follow the guideline "scammers operate on this website" , its just fact. I know the rules, but i could get scammed tomorrow by someone who genuinely look legit.

So could anyone. A good example is "Mr.P" , he followed the "guidelines" and got scammed because he thought the guy was legit. No one knows where he lives or what his name is because he hasn't had to give the information!

Which is why you always send money as a goods payment, because yes you may have to wait 3 weeks for your money back, but atleast you've not lost it for good!

It isn't that simple! You don't always get it back, Where have you got that from?

lets say he comes on the forum for a while, generally gets to know the place/people. He puts up an advert for a something expensive but priced well.

One of us comes along, bags it because its a pretty good price, the guy looks legit etc. You could pay properly and not as a gift , the scammer gets your money, withdraws it to his bank, closes paypal account or just leaves it.

Then what?

lol, you say your system will take no time to set up... so... we've had almost 1400 members this year, that's alot more work and alot more time...

If people follow the guidelines, even if they get scammed, they get their money back! simples!

But you don't always get it back. The most you can do it open a dispute, which raises the attention to a pay-pal guru.

They have a look and see what's happened and if he thinks something wrong, he can cancel the transaction if its still in process, or can withdraw money from the scammer's account (If they haven't already withdrawn and fled).

They cant just give you some money, it has to be rectified from the other persons account.

However, if they paid by "gift" then non of this can be done, So yeah your better off paying properly obviously, but your still not immune to getting robbed.

i'm not a paid member , but i have bits to sell , which i guess with the way things are at this moment in time it's a lot harder as people are a bit weary of new or newish sellers .

i can supply my home number and address and the garage the car is stored in etc
