well any mod or admin would do, but dk seems to put a fair amount of effort in to club polo detective work

Agree completely. I thought I got done by someone on here, sent him what he asked for then no contact for a few months then dk pm's him and a couple of weeks later, I get a pm from

I was thinking the other day, how having a 2nd account to trick the fuckers would be a cool idea

Just put a few wanted adds up for scene/expensive bits and wait for the scammers to come flocking at your inbox

Scam baiting! Excellent idea... hahah

best thing is, if you get a suspicious looking reply to a wanted ad, just point us in their direction

we can check it out then and warn others

a fair few have been scammed but on a flip side i like to think we have saved some aswell

Perhaps to minimise these "scammers" on our forum. We could perhaps use a raiting system like they use on Ebay. For example; another use buys a set of wheels or another and the transactions goes smoothly the buyer gives the seller for example 5/5 stars.

Or even easier ban the fuc***!...

You cant ban someone if you are unaware of them being a scammer

how about a discussion section dedicated to all things scam related?

any one that's suspicious about a user could post up in there, that way it's all out in the open for both mods and members to see and discuss. i think this thread has proved that this method can work well, thanks to this thread some people found out they had been scammed well before they would of done and before the scammer had a chance to withdraw their money, and as soon as he had created another identity he was outed again.

also any one that notices an active scammer on other sites and wants to put a warning up could do it there.

any tips and hints on not being scammed or for noticing a scammer could all be posted there.

maybe encourage a bit of scam baiting on here as a kind of unofficial detective agency to take some pressure off the mods and act as an early warning system against scammers, as normally it's not until it's too late that they get brought to every one's attention? if one is found then details could be posted up for every one to see.

this would also act as a deterrent to scammers if they came on here and saw that the forum was taking such an active stance against scamming, and if they saw it wasn't going to be a walk in the park they would move on to some where else. i believe it would work better than any warning placed at the top of a forum (which a lot of users seem to either miss or ignore) at keeping scamming fresh in the mind of users.

i know that the powers that be are not normally keen on making extra sections, but i feel this could be some thing that benefits both the users and the mods? i know that most of these things could be posted in forums we already have, but having them all in one place would make them easier to find and keep a track of and it would be as much about being a deterrent for scammers as it would be a place to out them.

there's a section for photography and i honestly think this would be much more of a benefit for the forum than that?

x2 think this is a very good idea as the mods on this site work tirelessly and dont really need to be bogged down with extra work so if a section was made you could state how when and divulge useful info which could also be reffered to when making a purchase it would also benifit newbies who are genuine seller as well because there will be no mention of them in a section like this i think someone should poll a vote for this excellent idea

As you can have a similar disputes section to edition where classified disputes/scams can go and be read, like a name and shame but when things go right and get sorted can go into a sub forum of successful dispute maybe? The warning page may have gotten a bit stale and people dont see the need to read it where as the classified disputes can be on going to solve errors or things that go wrong? Maybe put a few rules as to a time scale before you put a name and shame or dispute maybe after trying to contact the seller for 48hrs? etc

i think the warning gets ignored because it is just that, a warning, people have the attitude that it won't happen to them, it also doesn't show the extent of the problem and the lengths that people will got to to steal some one's money. a section full of horror stories might open their eyes a lot more and give them some idea of the scale of the problem.

if people see that the forum is active with posts being made in it it may draw their attention to it (even if it is just down to curiosity), and with people posting in there it will probably encourage them to get involved a bit too in a way that this thread has. this post is 12 pages long, people are drawn to threads like this just out of curiosity so hopefully a section full of stuff like this would have the same effect.

plus i think if users are encouraged to join in the fight against scammers it makes it more interactive than just some warning saying what you should and shouldn't do.

but as i say it would be just as important as a deterrent for scammers as it would as a sauce of info for buyers. i've been doing a bit of scam baiting over the last couple of days on here and already found one (passed the info on to dk), and if there was a place to post it i would post up the pm's. if a scammer comes on a site looking for an easy sting but finds a section dotted with threads about how users have gone under cover to weed out dodgy fuckers, they would probably think twice about going through the wanted section
