Yeah man it looked like a laugh! Beginning of this year I found a place in a housing estate, it was a big open cross roads I guess is the way to explain it and it was just sheet ice! Could do what Poloholliday did just without the trays, did some sick drifts and doughnuts haha :D Gonna go back there one of these evenings and maybe get a vid or two :p

if any of you make my insurance go up next year, imma be pissed.

me and my mates went up the local industrial estate which was great fun, although one of my mates thought it would be funny to drift in a lay by in front of loads of people.......got a section 59 for dangerous driving after someone complained = what a nob.!!!!

Span the car woooo, handbrakes in car parks I'm loving the snow!!!

heres one i took on my phone

got two trays under the back wheels and pulled up the handbrake and away you go!

the little polo one was good. the mx-5 driver wasnt really drifting, was just planting the foot. but looked fun

Also have a look at your stopping distances, and evasive steering under breaking. The minute you lock your wheels in the slippy stuff, you vastly increase your stopping distance, so if you can feel out how to stop as quickly as possible without locking up, that will do you a lot of favours.

Evasive steering - unless you've got ABS, and even if you have, on ice, forget it, you can't steer while locked up, the mpmentum of the car will just carry you forwards. It's really useful to try this to prove it to yourself (careful in case you suddenly get a snatch of traction with the steering on). Likewise, there's a serious amount of headgame involved in knowing you're likely to hit something, but easing off the brakes so you can steer, proving this to yourself can be really valuable.

I'm amazed at the amount of people who just hammer on the brakes and wait, or worse head straight into the kerb understeering

If anyone ever gets a chance (NOT on public roads), drive along in a straight line, doesn't have to be fast, slam the brakes on so the wheels lock, steer a turn or so, and let go of the pedal. As soon as the wheels begin turning and they regain traction the car will lurch to the side, surprisingly so at times.

I've driven a fair amount in the snow/ice and at times it's quite impressive how much grip you do get as long as you keep the wheels moving, definitely a case of more education/understanding needed for the most part!

^ Agreed with above ^ I'm seriously considering i'm the only fucker who can drive around my area, and I'm 19 ffs :D I love sliding around carparks for the fun of it, but at the same time you feel you're really, really learning something.

And the few times i've lost control in just the wet its been so much easier to control/bring back around.

Well chuffed

PS don't do it at work, they think i'm a totally insane driver now, don't get as many shots of the van lol..!
