With some of these pickup conversions, it does make me wonder whether the person converting has actually thought how they are going to replace the structural integrity they lose by chopping a big bit of the monocoque out? I'm not saying they're *all* pikey deathtraps, but some of them must be.

also non of them should legally be on the road no matter how well built they are. I'm not sure if you could be prosicuted for driving one but if you were found out the cars registration would be taken away by the dvla. I guess your insurance would be invalid too because the car wouldn't of been through the apropriate tests to show it was roadworthy.

I don't think the IVA test is a walk in the park, it is quite a stringent test from what I have heard.

there is currently no test for a modified small commercial which is what these would be classed as.

So if the dvla find out about the changes, either from the owner telling them about them or through some one noticing them (mot tester, road side vosa tester or just an eagle eyed copper ect), they would revoke the registration and tell you to take it for a BIVA (think that's right, i'll double check when i get home) test. When you try to book the test and tell them about the car they will explain that there is no test for that class.

How long you then run around in circles is entirely up to you, but the only current war around it is to put your shell on to a separate chassis (some thing like a suzuki sj might be good for a saxo or metro for example).

I'll sort out some links to threads about it with more detailed and accurate info on it from retro rides when i get home.

i never knew that! i always thought akit car was treated like a new car, ie. it got a new reg. if your adopting the old reg does that then mean all that needs done is updating the v5 to change the likes of chassis numbers etc?

and who ever modded that saxo must be sniffing glue or something. at no point could that have been considered to be a good idea lol
