Anyway back to the point. Alpine are not totally shit imo but their stuff is only midrange. You may think it sounds "mint" as your ears have only ever been partial to some Barry bodged kit. Your car may shake but there isnt a chance in hell that it gives out Bass as clear and well cut as the Focal stuff. your ears bleed before 150 DB, Personal rape alarms are around 130 and a gas turbine is around 140 I think and believe me they are loud!.

The sounds is all sorted now, popped down to the shop today and sorted all the levels out.

No buzzing or humming what so ever.

Can get the volume up to 3/4 and it doesnt distort, and thats far to loud to listen to it

If I wanted 1000's of 12 inch subs and loads of 6x9's then I would have gone to Halfords and asked for there advice. However I like my music to be replayed in the quality it was intended for, and this setup seems to be doing a good job.

He said let it run in for another 10 hours or so, then if I want a little more bass, or I think the tweeters are to loud he will sort it out for me.

I dont claim to know everything about audio by any means. As soon as i meet someone who shows more knowlege than I do I respectly sit quietly and listen to learn myself. I've been doing this for long enough to know the first lesson is simple- you can NEVER know everything about audio because its ALWAYS a learning curve.

HOWEVER when people bullshit their way to the top it severly fuc.ks me off!!! especially when its very apparent they actually haven't got a Danny LeRue (Clue!) what they are on about!)

with your system at a guess with a single polyglass sub and 400 watts RMS probably high 120's/low 130's in terms of numbers. But that really isnt what your system was designed to do. Bare in mind the main things that make the difference in SPL are:

Cone area

Power (both in terms of amplification and power supply)

Box Design.

There are theories such as double the wattage and you should get double the SPL or double the cone area and you should double your score again etc. In practice however these dont always work exactly as they should. (i.e. double your score = going from 130 to 133 for example)

In terms of daily listening for music, most people have different tolernace levels. I can comfortably sit through 145 db all day long and not break a sweat. Some people might find this uncomfortable though.

they are INTERNAL measurements so add 18mm each side (for the MDF or 15 if you're using that)

thats the recommended sealed size for your sub!
