electric windows/door mirrors

Hi.

My polo 1.2 (9N1) mirror switches on driver side and controls for the door windows suddenly stopped working yesterday. The control on the passenger side for the passenger window is ok. I thougt about the fuses and tried to check - the fusebox is round the side of the instrument panel and have to have the drivers door open to get at it. The fuses aren't numbered so I had to check all fuses but all seemed intact! What do I check now? It's obviously the wiring somewhere but is it behind the door panel? If so, what is the way to get that off - I don't like working with things that have hidden clips as I keep breaking them!
