I agree to an extent yeah, that particular beetle is not sort after as its a crap one, but it did look in quite good condition... and even though there are millions of them to buy most are made of rust aha i know mine is... :'(

But they also say vectra's are slow.. but my dad did 150mph in his..

But after all that.. TOP GEAR IS BETTER THAN FITH GEAR!

i love top gear and i do see the funny side to all their jokes but i never have understood why they hate the beetle, i loved mine but on the botswana challenge the forfit car was a bug. i would have driven mine into a tree to drive it.

People love beetles for their faults and quirkiness, these are not traits of a good car

in standard form they are slow, don't hand well, and they were well out dated by the 1960's. Lets be honest they are pretty shit and if any other company made them you would also be saying they are shit, but people love them dispite of (and in some cases because of) their shitness.

This is probably why they play on the joke that they hate them so much, and probably to upset of beetle owners a bit too

Watched the episode last night on iplayer, phone rang just as the intro credits had finished so i hit pause for a second to answer. Clarksons little broadband iplayer joke at the start actually managed to fool me for a few seconds after I pressed play again!

Like the 5dr AX GT they drove under a lorry trailer. Why not smash the roof of a sub-model instead? No,had to be the best one they could find..

Didn't care about the Astra GSi they blew up (even though they probably scrapped the red stripe).

Still,makes no difference to me that these cars are being destroyed. And its hardly on the scale of the scrappage scheme..

dont get me started on the scrappage scheme i used my mk3 golf gti on the scrappage scheme it had 8 months mot full service history and an immaculate body, it made me feel sick thinking theyd scrap it but they did knock £3k of a new car for me

they always let nice enough cars get wrecked in these shows, that someone could easily turn into an amazing car. my fav is crash test dummies when they kill a citeron 2cv in every episode
