mk2 golf 2.0 16v

Featured Replies

I'm advertising my golf for sale, it's not getting used anymore much and i can't justify keeping it, as much as i'd like to. I know it's worth the money in parts but hopefully i can sell it as a whole to save me breaking it and having to scrap the shell. I will be truely sad when it goes.

Honesty is the best policy, so here's all the good and the bad....

I've owned it since Nov '06 when i bought it for my first car.

1991 diamond Silver 5 door 1.3CL, it's now a 2.0 16v 9A converted in April 2010. V5 Changed to 2.0. I don't honestly know the milage on the shell anymore. I would guess around 130,000, but basically everything has been replaced. Clocks read 186,000 or something, but these were bought second hand.

MOT wise i'll get it 12 months in the next week or so, it's currently sorn.

Engine Spec (fitted april '10)

- 2.0 9A 16v

refreshed head (new valve stem seals, cleaned, relapped valves etc) in the last 2500 miles and bottom end rebuilt in the last 25,000 miles. As you would expect, no knocks, bangs, smoke etc. New cambelt kit, metal headgasket etc when the head was done. New engine mounts fitted then, the front being a solid item.

- 02A gearbox and shifter

mechanical clutch cable conversion kit with new bits all from VW in Jan '10. Clutch cable makes a creaky noise when used, but works fine!

- Dellorto twin 40 carbs setup

with all very good quality components; JMR (mr hillclimber) Inlet manifold, JMR head water outlet, cast aluminium Maggard rose jointed throttle linkage, Facet red top fuel pump. Filter King pressure regulator setup with gauge

- Lightened flywheel with fresh (~2000 mile) VR6 Sachs clutch, release bearing and pressure plate.

- Miltek 4-1 stainless steel manifold, longlife stainless exhuast system.

It drives well, but would benefit from a rolling road setup with someone who knows exactly what they are doing, not just any old place.

Chassis

Corrado sebring alloys with caps fitted with 195/45 toyo T1r's with good tread.

Fitted in Jan 2010...

- Koni height and damping adjustable coilovers with new VR6 style top mounts.

- G60 front brake setup, calipers had new seals.

- Ferrodo DS2500 brake pads

- Brembo Max Discs.

- Powerflex polybushes fitted to front wishbones and crossmember.

- New front wheel bearings and hubs

- New track rods and ends

- New ball joints

- Tracking and camber set by protyre

Interior

- Electric Recaro seats with rears in matching cloth. Currently not wired up; when i put them in i connected up to a battery and set them to the lowest (and best!) position. Drivers bolster has some wear, but doesn't effect the comfort at all.

- 16v clocks fitted along with MFA indicator stalks, currenlty time works, and MPG is spliced into the vacuum system, it won't be 100% accurate, but then it isn't on a standard engine anyway. The other sensors havn't been fitted yet, shouldn't be a problem to find them and get them all working.

- Momo steering wheel, horn not currently wired up.

- Grey original carpets fitted, condition isn't the best. I have had the car stripped out for most of the time i've driven it and have only recently put them back in. No sound deadening underneath. Various bits of plastic aren't fitted, what i can find will be included. The headlining has some holes in it.

Bodywork and general

The bodywork isn't in the best in the world, there isn't any terminal rust but it could do with a general tidy up. I'd been more interested in how the car went than looked for the last couple of years.

There is little spots of surface rust in areas. There's a dent on the front passenger wing and rear passenger door which carried on slightly onto the rear quarter. There is a rust hole underneath the drivers floor which could do with being fixed.

It has red stripe bumpers fitted, the front valance is currently blue not silver.

I have a 16v front splitter that will come with it, along with some red dent free wings that i intended on spraying and fitting.

I don't have any pictures of it on the sebrings since they aren't fitted yet. Pics are of it on BBS RZ's. I will get upto date pictures of it when it's MOT'd and the wheels are fitted.

Price wise i can only really go on the sum of parts worth 2nd hand and take some off for ease of not dismantling it : £1850ono
