Polo 6n - JDM Whore.. Takatas, Brides, GTI CONVERTION

If you buy coilovers before fitting them coat all the threads thickly with some grease (and maybe even cable tie an old inner tube around them) to protect them from the elements, which saves you having to buy a whole new set when you discover they're rusted to shit and can't be undone/snap the C-spanner/snap right off altogether!

Just thought ide update the project. Unfortunutally, its bad news...

After parking the car in the garage to charge the dead battery, i noticed that on the bootlid there were small bubbles/blisters in the paintwork :( Checked the rest of the car and it only seems to be on the bootlid.

Spoke to the guy who sprayed my car and he said somehow moister had been trapped under the paint. Gladly, it shall be taken back into the shop this week and the bootlid shall be re-done. I have also asked him to colour code the door handles and spray the underbonnet this time however.

Also, i discovered that the radiator has a screw in it where the splitter has been fixed underneath.. hopefully this can be sorted cheaply and quickly - wasnt my doing if thats wha your thinking!!

Ordered some new licence plated too, 12"x6".. after recieving them, discovered that the wrong regestration was printed. Two letters had been placed wrong. New plates have been recieved so alls well, just need to get the bits i need to mount the front & rear on now:)

as you can tell.. not the best weeks in terms of the project!

Shall upload more pictures when the car is back from the shop and plates fitted..

To be continued.. some more..

The car is now OFFICIALLY road worthy :D Had my first drive of it yesterday!

Rear licence plate has now been fitted - with use of a special custom bracket ;)

12x6" import plates add to the jap/j'euro theme that I'm going for.. the front plate shall be the same, the long plate it temporary.

The rear plate is COMPLETELLY removable and doenst touch the bodywork of the car in anyway :)

By the time you read this, the car will have been taken away for the paint bubbles to be sorted. Shall return in a few days!

when are the coileys commin?

Good progress on this. I personally think the rear numberplate looks gash and should have been left on the bootlid but its your car and if you like it then alls cool.

Soon as I saw the respray I thought to myself, VXR colour and I was right, good choice as well.

Get it slammed asap.

Wow, Love it

Boot looks really wierd to me, doesnt look like it fits propely? or is that just mee?

Anyway, looks nice :)

Yea i get what you meen.. but if your going to go smooth, be adventurous! haha Um as soon as my wheels get refurbed then i shall get the coils.. wheels first so i will be able to get them both fitted at once see :)

Arden blue FTW!! And the theme of the car is that "J-Euro" style.. but PROPER J'euro - not just jap wheels and plate like other so called "J-Euro" polo's on here. Everything will be jap influences :D Al will come together!

Yea it fits good, theres a bit of a gap between the boot and inner light but its not noticable to anyone without looking for it

Cheers all :)

I like it. Think the concept is great and the Arden Blue respray really suits the car. I'd have left the numberplate on the tailgate or put a recess in the bumper but that's just me. Always think they look like an afterthought when they're mounted like on yours.

But because I'm a picky sod:

Not everything. I mean the rear lights are Euro spec, the colour is off an Opel (German) and Cobra seats are made in the UK. Actually it's only the plate and wheels that are Jap inspired so far. ;-p

I'd have gone for JDM lights and boot lid, smoothed bar the plate. It's begging for EK9 Type R Recaros too (not as expensive as you'd think) Strip it bare inside, rear strut brace with harnesses mounted. Carbon or DiNoc accents too. Then you're rolling.

Actually, Google JDM style and on the first page a car in a similar colour to yours.

JM2P though. Will be watching how this progresses.

i like that your going jap

mines gone jap aswell

i do kinda agree with alex though

but as soon as some proper jdm style wheels and some slamming goes on i think everyone will see whats going on

Yea i do see what you were talking about.. i was going for Integra seats, but i had the cobras for a steal soo... and its not planned to be a PURE jap inspired car.. Its "J-Euro" but with a bit more work than the other "J-Euro" polo's that i mentioned.. If anything ill be creating myown sub-style of "J-Euro"..

And as for the inside:

- Fully Stripped rear

- Red Buckets with Black (or Blue - prob black) Harnesses

- Rear smoothed and sprayed black

- Red Struts/Showcage/custom cross brace

- All front interior trim flocked in black

- Black headlining

- Black Carpet

-Tri A-Pillar Pods (oil temp, oil pressure, fuel mix)

and maybe a few more bits that i cant think of :)

and the rear plate was nothing like an afterthought, it was always planned to be offcentred and mounted on the tow eye. ;) haha trust, its all acording to the idea ;)

What you trying to say about previous J-Euro polo's??

do want ^

I didn't say it was an afterthought, just that it looks like one. Number plates look best when they're tucked into a recess, it seems a shame to screw it onto the bumper having spent all that time 'cleaning' the bodywork of clutter. It's just not how I roll...

But then it's not my car.

I completely agree, would look so much better mounted in a proper numberplate recess.

Not 'slagging' them off in anyway, they look awesome.. but to me it seems all they are is a Jap/US spec bootlid and Jap styled wheels.. Dont get me wrong, looks good, but i just wanna do more than that

Its not screwed to the bumper fella, it doesnt touch the bodywork at all.. mounted to a custom bracket that bolts onto the tow-eye :) all cables are detatchable too so the plate is fully removable :)

I payed £700 for the following work...

- Bumpers Smoothed

- Aerial Removed & Smoothed

- 6n2 bootlid & Lights aligned

- Rear arches rolled

- Full respray from silver to Arden Blue :)

And yea mate the vxr colours are a definate go go recently!

Responce to all:

Please bare in mind, the car is still a work in progress.. only thing slowing progress now is the lack of money as i dont have a job (grr)...

The bootlid & Lights do fit straight on, but the bootlid does need a little work to get it to sit properly.. I cant say what needs to be done as i got the bodyshop to do it for me..

  • 1 month later...

I thought we all took the piss lol

Ar these guys are harsh !

Give the boy a break he says he doesn't have a job on a few occasions .. I'm not a big fan of jdm but I think he'll pull it off with the ideas he's told me ..

You'll get there in the end !

ahhhh! JDM is Japanese Domestic Market! it's like us dub boys saying OEM!!! you mean drift inspired? that white one is unreal!
