Door seal rubbers and paint codes.

Featured Replies

Hi guys/girls,

A friend has recently purchased a '00 GTi (its been in the for sale section) and I'm in need of a touch of info if you would be so kind as theres some trivial issues I need to sort.

I'm a car man, but VW's are not my thing at all and have never owned one. Dare I say it, but I have a jap car. lol Anyway getting to the point......

The drivers side door rubber, it has a small 1cm gap in its join from the interior door pillar trim to the end that drops in from the roof line on the door pillar.

Are these prone to shrinkage at all? On my car it'd be a case of whipping it out and refitting it and hey presto gap gone.......or are VW's such that it would need a new/salvaged replacement?

Secondly, does anyone know the name of the black paint used on the GTi's of that age? Or even the propper paint code. I need to head to my local auto panels distributor for some paint.

Other than that, the car itself is solid and spotless. She can't wait to start enjoying it!

Rich.
